So, am I the only one playing this? It's basically Left 4 Dead: Steal Shit! Edition. You can play single player (holy fuck don't) or four player co-op online and the title pretty much gives it away. You rob banks, ambush armored cars full of gold bars, sneak into high rises and loot vaults full of jewels, take out prison convoys and help prisoners escape. It's a ton of fun. I think it's a PS3 exclusive on consoles...yeah it is but it's also on PC. The PC version looks and controls a lot better but I'd say it's still worth a look on PS3 as it's got a demo.
The leveling system is pretty fun, by making more cash you build your reputation. There are three skills trees, Assault, Marksman and Support that pretty much provide what you'd expect. The kicker is you can switch your class on the fly. Each time you get a "level" you level up whatever skill tree you're currently set on. Each trees got 48 levels so you can spend a lot of time with the game and never feel like you aren't going anywhere.
The single player is horrible just like the Left 4 Dead games. The Ai doesn't really respond to you very well and you can't issue any sort of commands to them so they just follow you around as roving turrets that can't shoot very straight.
Your "lives" take the form of hostages. By snatching a hostage your handler can negotiate for a teammates release if they've been downed and apprehended.
There are a lot of little easter egg nods toward movies. A particular tabletop bank speech is my personal favorite and an entire level where you're running and gunning called "Heat Street".
The cops have a few aces up their sleeves too in the form of special units. Pretty much swat/cop versions of the big bads in Left 4 Dead with beat cops, light swat, FBI agents and heavy swat rounding out the regular mobs.
