So, due to video games, computers and I am sure a myriad of other things, mostly thanks to Judd Apatow, men aren't growing up in movies. Every other comedy features some stunted manboy who simply refuses to mature and take responsibility. But this is the 10s, dammit, and our sisters did not fight so that they could always be blameless and adult and responsible in every single film role. I recently saw the trailer for the Diablo Cody Young Adult, with Charlize Theron and (it could just be the way the trailer is cut), it seems like she is a woman who hasn't really grown up and I was wondering, dear Chewers, what other films, either prominently or not, feature a woman being immature. And subquestion, how does an immature woman act in contrast to an immature man?

I would say Amelie would be a good example of a story that features a woman doin' her own thing. Not sure if Amelie displays immaturity, rather simply a lack of interest in living in the adult 'real' world

Taking the wayback machine here, but the original Little Girls Lost (or Alan Moore's Lost Girls) include Alice, Dorothy Gale, and Wendy Darling.

All three attempt to avoid taking responsibility in some form. Alice forsakes her education, Dorothy is running away from home to save Toto who is indeed guilty of having bitten Miss Gulch, and Wendy (in the Disney version), is told by her father that "it's high time she found a room of her own" and kicks her out of the nursery she shares with her brothers for "stuffing the boys' heads with her lot of silly stories".

Bridesmaids...

I think the female version of the Manchild might be the Manic Pixie Dream Girl: that free-spirited girlwoman who is always teaching that boring, stuffy Man of Responsibility how to loosen up and enjoy life.  Her behavior is only tangentially "immature" because it's not indulging in immaturity for immaturity's sake (as it is with the Manchild) but immaturity for the betterment of her partner.  She is an manifested agent of growth and therefore not a real character of substance at all.

13 Going On 30?

Perhaps a very specific case...
