CHUD Watch-Along - Save a Date for November! - Page 2

Saturday seems to have the most momentum.  I don't want to lose it.  This stuff never seems to really happen when the momentum dies.

Of course, unless anyone else has an issue with a Saturday morning (EST)...

Keep in mind that a comfortable morning start time on EST is a pretty early morning for PST (which I don't mind, but other west coast people might).

And I'm not entirely sure how this works out after Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, but:

10 am (EST) on Saturday would be

7 am (PST) on Saturday

5 pm (EEST) on Sunday for stelios... I think.  Give or take an hour.

No worries! The one thing I'd ask is that next time we try out a different time than Saturday mornings, because I work literally every Saturday morning

One final request: would it be alright if I tried my hand at a few logos, for you to use as you saw fit?

I have no problem with that.

I can do November 26th  at either 7:00 or 8:00 AM PST on Saturday.

Either of those dates are sweet with me.

I can do the 12th and/or the 26th.

If Matrix were here, he could do them, too.

I like you, Bradito.  I'll kill you last.

At this point, I BELIEVE that both of those days work for me.

Ok.  Going along with Ratty's more specific preference:

Saturday morning, November 26th

COMMANDO

8 am (PST)

11 am (EST)

6 or 7 pm (EEST) Sunday for stelios (I think!?)

Let's get a tally going for this.

Judas Booth: IN

Central timezone, so 10am.

For us damn foreigners there should be a time stamped forum post because all the zone stuff gets messy.

As I post this I have 1pm local, 5pm for San Francisco, which is PST, right?

Bucho: that's correct.  PST is Frisco.

I'll make sure to do that when I start the COMMANDO watch-along thread.  It seemed to work ok for the Starship Troopers one.

I was going to suggest that we go with GMT, the world standard

Or go with my idea from my old blog and do away with time zones all together, stick with a universal 24 hr clock, and the only thing that would change would be your understanding of what a certain time meant in your given location - if Nooj said it started at 12 PM, for some that would be a time in the middle if the day, for others the morning or evening, but no one would have to do math to know when stuff was going down

Why don't they just call him "GIRL George?"

Marked in my calendar.  After Thanksgiving, this will be a good time to "let off some steam."

I'm there, baby. With fucking bells on.

Thanks!

Damn. I may not be able to make this one. I'll check my work schedule when it comes out for that week.

Barring global catastrophes I'm totally in.

I may end up having to buy a used copy of the DVD - I don't stream, and my library of choice doesn't have it. Crap.

Will check and see if the nearby Family Video carries it.

Is it too late for me to join in?

Yes.

No, of course it isn't.

"Too late" will be about 1 PM, EST, on 11/26.

Ask a retarded question...

I'm free on the weekends, so Saturday's fine with me but as I'm in Sydney it might be Sunday when this watch-a-long happens.

Oh, and just to repeat:

For those in the US, Commando is available on Netflix Instant.

It will be 2 o'clock Sunday in Sydney but it'd be in the wee hours of the morning. Unless Nathan has his Delorean back from the panel shop, in which case it could be any time he wants.

Amazon has it for $2.99 for a rental streaming. Might go that way, if I can't find an actual hard copy locally.

Whoops!  I got that totally wrong!  I just automatically assumed that Sydney was far away enough that I simply did the same PM to AM switch I did for Greece.  ... which is just stupid considering how far those two points are from each other.

Sorry Nathan!  Fixing now!

Saturday morning, November 26th

2 am (Australian EST) on Sunday for NathanW

4 am (NZDT) on Sunday for Bucho (damn...I'm sorry)

Just wanted to announce in light of recent news, I've decided to take the day off work and join the WATCH ALONG!

EDIT And we should keep the momentum going and do more soon, early December, mid December, etc

Recent news?

Anyway... good to hear it, Kate.

Though I do take issue with trying to make watch-alongs more frequent than once a month (which is overly optimistic as it is).  Make it too frequent and there is less incentive for a greater number of us to try to make the effort to participate.  Let's see how it goes just month to month.

Saturday Morning? The 26th? I'm in bitches! Barring God pissing on me!

I'll be at work, but considering it's the weekend after Thanksgiving, should be quiet enough to do this right.

Fair enough, I just want to do as many of 'em in 2011 as possible!

and me too, it will be my pleasure to join you guys for COMMANDO. What a great way to see the film for the first time! : )

I'll try to make it. This is one of my favorite dumb-ass 80s action movies, so I sincerely hope to be here. If not, c'est la vie.

I'm down for this. If chances to do stuff with this community might be going by the wayside, I'm capitalizing all I can right now.

So I asked my boss for time off this morning, and she totally gave me an evil look and refused! It was horrible. I never ask for time off, and I always fill in for everyone else. I've not had a vacation in four years. Thankfully someone else on staff agreed to cover for me, but I'm through with asking for time off, next time it's going to be a fake sick day
