Grimm

Did anyone else catch this? I didn't even know about it til an hour or so beforehand and my husband sold me on it by telling me it had some Buffy/Angel alumni behind the scenes. I admit it was a bit predictable, but still entertaining, so I've got the DVR set for the season.

I found it mildly interesting.  Enough so to check back next week and see how it progresses.  I liked it a hell of a lot more than Once Upon A Time which I quit by the midway point of the pilot.

It seemed like there was some forced dialogue, like everything the aunt said but other than that, much more interesting than Once Upon A Time which felt like they were trying way too hard. Though it has Zoey from HIMYM, so I might tune into that a little bit.

I enjoyed it enough to check it out again, but not enough to boot either Fringe or Supernatural from my DVR schedule, so we shall see.

I hosted a preview event where they showed this to a bunch of families in a Alamo-style theater. I was chuckling a lot, felt kind of like an asshole. I'm baffled by the even "meh" reaction to this... there's way too much good TV happening to waste time on something as cheap and inert as this.

Ehh good enough. I will certainly give it a few more episodes. Seems VERY CW though, can't imagine it making it on a bigger network like this.

This is a network show? Looks and feels like pure Syfy.

In the battle of 'Fairy tales are real" shows, Once Upon A Time won. Not because it's good, but because Jennifer Morisson wore that dress at the beginning. Sometimes the reliability of how my basest emotions influence my decisions is infuriating. Grimm gets one more episode if I'm really, really bored, while Once Upon A Time has three of four more to either un-bore me or give me more scenes to ogle pretty ladies at.

Somehow this looks like a low rent Supernatural with a little bigger budget.  Odd how that show pretty much came out of the gate with leads much more compelling than this.

Don't get me started on the lead. Was the budget so low the show couldn't afford Brandon Routh and got a celebrity impersonator instead?

That was EXACTLY my thoughts, too.

Well, I enjoyed the hell out of last night's episode, and I don't care who knows it.

One of the good guys ripping an arm off builds alot of good will.   It's not going to be the next Buffy or Angel but it has the potential to be as good as Supernatural and that's not bad.

Anybody still watching this?  This show has turned into a bit of a guilty pleasure for me.  I wouldn't call it good, but its monsters of the week are entertaining enough to keep me coming back to it, which is something that Once Upon A Time didn't manage.  What are people's opinions now that there have been a few more episodes since the last time anyone posted in this thread?

Ehh im not loving it but im a big fan of the werewolf partner.

Yeah, he does tend to steal the spotlight whenever he's on screen.

Gotta agree on the werewolf sidekick. The show's entertaining and doesn't have that bright, sunny display that Once Upon A Time seems to give off. Also, no annoying kids as main characters.

I gave up on this after the sex dude. With my shows ending their seasons one after another some time has opened up. Is it worth the time?

I'm giving it time to work itself out only because I know that one of the creators of Angel is behind this. And that show took a minute to get going as well.

I'm still watching it.  It's not Appointment Television, and I have missed one or two eps, but it's still fun.  I wish they would streamline the cast to just the main detective and the werewolf partner.  Their scenes together are usually the highlights and their chemistry is much better than anyone else's.

I haven't missed an episode yet.  I watch on Hulu though.  I like it, but some of the dialogue is very cringe worthy, especially the black partner.  I like the werewolf side kick most, and he does have the best chemistry with the lead.  I really dug the pig/wolf episode.

I also watch Once Upon a Time, and the story is getting good lately, and it has some serious eye candy with Snow White, Emma, the Evil Queen and the short glimpses of Red Riding Hood.  Rawr.  I can't wait for Red's episode, if she gets one.

I knew that would be a complaint from the first episode. The guy can't have two partners. I know what they are going for, a  different partner for each type of case, but the problem is we don't see him investigating  human police work so his human partner comes across as pretty worthless. He has to bullshit his human partner and all the supernatural stuff and it's not even like we are seeing the monsters effect their friendship.

I thought the one with the goat guy was the weakest episode so far, so you should probably give it at least one more try before calling it quits for good.

Hopefully that will change soon, because the partner going out to dinner with the hexenbeast (or however you spell it) while the boss guy watches from the street makes it look like the two halves of Nick's life are about to collide in a major way.

So I watched the next episode. The one with fake Deadmau5. Still not feeling it. Shame.

Ehh I got halfway through the latest ep......apparently it's a guy with a mouse head........im done. The show just isn't very exciting. The werewolf guy is pretty cool but the show is too bland. Once Upon a time and Grimm started about the same time and I thought Grimm would be my favorite. Turns out I was wrong.

I'm liking this show if only because I find OUAT to play it safe and be too schmaltzy at times for my tastes. Plus, I absolutely hate that fucking kid. Annoys the shit out of me. I think another problem with Grimm is that the main character, after being exposed to his family's history and the dangers that are now a part of his everyday life, he can be pretty fucking stupid. The guy's a cop but he only studies up on his new worldview when there's a case that requires it. He's taken no precautions for his home/wife(?)/partner after multiple incidences. WTF?! A this point, I'll stick with it until the end of the season, but only because it's from the creator of Angel and that show didn't pick up until the end of the first season.

They're also pretty bad at police work.  If you're a cop are you allowed to shoot an unarmed man in the back as he's running away?

They also have that whole camper, which is never used except when Nick needs info, who promptly goes over to Monroe for info?  Seems like there's some redundancy there.

I like them both, but Once is much better in my opinion.  This one had me scratching my head, because he seemed to be surprised about the mouse guy, but we just a few weeks ago had a story about mouse guys.  The Pied Piper one, right?  Those guys were mouse guys were they not?  Maybe different mouse guys.

I'm liking the two side stories with miscellaneous creatures getting a look at the Grimm's house, and wolf guy getting sent a message because he's consorting with a Grimm.

Wolf guy is my favorite part of the show.

I think it has potential, and it entertains me enough at the moment to stick around a while longer. But yeah, it's hardly appointment television.

Exactly. It has potential but they really need to tighten shit up on this show. The redundancy of the trailer 'o knowledge and the wolf guy is ridiculous. Although, I am reminded a bit of Angel and the first season where he was totally dependent of going to the PTB for clarification on the visions that were sent to Cordelia, but the season ended with a loop being thrown and the main contact for the PTB were killed off and Angel was stuck with only the visions to go by. So, I won't be surprised if the TOK is blown up/lost/destroyed by season's end.

I'm pretty much out of the loop for this one now, also.   It's just not deepening the mythology of the story enough for me to get past the bland leads.   I was hoping it was going to go the way of ANGEL's starter season, but it just ain't happening.
