You nail it with this review, I agree completely. Everyone involved really goes for it and that makes parts of it work in spite of itself, but the writing ultimately lets the film down. The only critiques I'd add are that some of the humor has a forced, "Isn't this wacky?!" quality that is grating, and it's distracting how badly the movie wants to be ELECTION.
