MOVIE OF THE DAY: THE COLLECTOR

bugger.  Saw the header and thought it would be the Terrence Stamp movie based on the John Fowles novel. I've read the novel but never seen the film so was quite intrigued... and then saw it was that shite instead.  

Ah well.  My best memories of that film are Nick's review giving it a balloon out of ten.  Splendid.

Believe me Andy, I wish it were the Terrence Stamp movie too.

So the Collector comes in, ties everyone up, then plants traps everywhere? How can you come up with something like that? How common is it to meet other thieves while breaking and entering?

But at least they're keeping that sense of logic for the sequel, as the synopsis reads "Arkin escapes with his life from the vicious grips of "The Collector" during an entrapment party where he adds beautiful Elena to his "Collection." Instead of recovering from the trauma, Arkin is suddenly abducted from the hospital by mercenaries hired by Elena's wealthy father. Arkin is blackmailed to team up with the mercenaries and track down The Collector's booby trapped warehouse and save Elena"

This time probably the traps will have traps inside, so he can trap him while he traps him.

They're making a sequel?

Jesus God....

I thought this tanked.

You know what?  Fuck it.  I really like this movie.  I'm sorry, but I do.  Hell, I'm actually interested in the sequel, The Collection.  I am perfectly comfortable being alone in this.  Feel free to eviscerate me if you must.

Hey, don't worry about it man. You can like whatever you want to like.

I'm sure you have your reasons for liking it.

I loved the hell out of the score too.  Reminded me of Claudio Simonetti..................when he still did good work on a consistent basis.

Okay... I will concede that they tried very hard to give this movie a giallo feel.

But that's not enough.
