I assume that Eileen was(is?) in charge of things like that but, again I hate to say it, I wonder if this infestation is a sign of things rapidly deteriorating here and that the end is nigh.

Again, I really, really doubt it. Why would that even be an "end is nigh" sign anyway?

That's a no, TzuDohNim. Whenever I log in, it has the "Newest posts in threads you've posted in" thing. Or I just go straight to the forum pages themselves, which I haven't noticed many shills on in the past couple days.

There's still plenty of staff - not sure where that theory came from.  At any rate - there's a few situations we haven't dealt with yet on this new chassis so we may be a little rusty getting certain things addressed.  I do know - because my GMAIL Inbox has positively exploded with notifications - that our Defensio Spam Killer Program thing has been working overtime.  At the moment I'm not sure if there's something extra we need to do but I will find out and do those things should they be necessary as soon as possible.

Also - if stuff like this pops up and you don't see anyone saying "Yo we got it," shoot me a PM.

I've been murdering an ungodly amount of these shitshills the last couple days. Is there anyway to check their ISP and ban them that way? The posts are all so similar that I figure they're all coming from the same source or just a handful.

Due to life issues (new job this past summer with many schedule adjustments and no onsite internet access; marital problems), I've been participating less on the forums. Just discovered this thread today. Read the whole thing in the past couple hours. Whatta rollercoaster. Sad about all the bad blood. But terribly glad CHUD's sticking around for now. My separation anxiety couldn't handle any more upheavals or bad news in 2011.

I've been reading the site and the boards since 99.  The shills don't bother me so much as all the links to pirated video lately.  The Dark Knight Thread is fucking terrible.  I can get pirated content on any site, but on CHUD?!?!  Maybe it's always been there, maybe I'm getting old.  Right now the only site where I haven't seen a link to pirated youtube bullshit is Dark Horizons.  I'll give props for not posting this garbage on the main site, but for me the boards and main site have always been one in the same. 

I'm kind of confused, have I missed something? What is it that you guys have been "trying" since the thread's started? Site's pretty much the same as ever.

i think its more 'behind the scenes' funding kinda shit. not stuff that goes on the front page.

pirated videos? really? of all the things to bitch about, someone posting a random youtube on a message board? methinks yon soapbox has lost its way.

Me too.  Looks like popular opinion is against me though.  It seems piracy is now socially acceptable, even on the CHUD messageboards.  Guess I AM getting old.  But hey - go check out WWTDD.com because they have leaked trailer pages, I read it here!!!!  Welcome to aint-it-chud-news, folks. 

I have faith that CHUD can endure.  But for now, enjoy your bootleg trailer discussions, I'll check back on the site when this shit clears up.

I'm not sure that it's a matter of popular opinion. It's one or two guys posting a link. Abandoning & dismissing the site altogether seems a bit silly, don't ya think? I too was under the impression that pirated content was frowned upon & it's clear that people simply need to be reminded that it's not allowed.

I don't feel too terrible about not giving much of a fuck about promotional trailers getting pirated.

While I think it IS frowned upon, to my knowledge Devin was the only one that was really gung-ho about enforcing it.  I could care less myself.  If someone wants to ruin their first experience of watching a teaser or trailer in a shitty bootlegged form, that's on them.  Unlike pirated music, movies, games, books, etc............it really isn't hurting anyone but the viewer.
