'Tis the season, and who better to spend it with than our fellow Chewers? Nights of laughter and merriment shared with loved ones by the hearth. Gentle snowfall and moonlit sleigh rides. Mistletoe and holly, and trees a'twinkle with light. It's what makes the holidays special

~ What made your wish list?

~ What are you doing to promote peace on earth and good will towards men?

~ What are your favorite traditions? A favorite ornament or family activity?

~ Share your decorations here!

~ Christmas cookie greatness! Post recipes and the best of the best of decorated cookie goodness

~ Should we do a CHUD HOLIDAY MOVIE WATCH ALONG?*

In my house we always listen to Patrick Stewart's CHRISTMAS CAROL album, from his one man Broadway show, and we have special ornaments we hang in a certain order every year (with an elegant golden reindeer up first). I'll be sure to show you guys my tree once it's decorated, and I look forward to seeing yours!

Let us all have a classic, classy Christmas (or pick your yuletide holiday of choice). It will be one for the ages!

When I was eleven my drunk uncle made me sit on his lap.

Happy holidays.

Oh no, Jake.... I hope that is just an example of your patented humor. If not, know my heart goes out to you. The holidays can be rough sometimes, believe me, I know. I have not decorated my tree this year, I just don't have the energy. With that said, know there is holiday cheer to be found if you look hard enough, and if nothing else, it's only a few more days till the end of the year and soon the x-mas carols will be off the radio

Be well, Jake

OK, Chewers, for some reason the following conundrum has cropped up for me several times this year:

Does Santa wrap presents?

Growing up my family would have a few wrapped presents that would be under the tree leading up to Christmas Eve and on Christmas morning those presents would be supplemented with non-wrapped presents that Santa Claus brought during the night.  As well, the stockings were empty until Christmas morn.

I am continuing this tradition with my boys the youngest of who may only have one or two Christmases left with this wonderment to wake up to.

I am finding this year that a good many people do not understand my take on this and absolutely insist that, yes, Santa wraps presents.  A patient today, whom I asked this question to, flat out told me that she earned the money to pay for those presents and no fat man was getting credit for gifts she bought.  biggrin.gif

So I ask, does Santa wrap presents?

Santa didn't wrap our presents because my parents overestimated our intelligence and didn't want to buy separate wrapping paper for their gifts and Santa's gifts.

Two phases:

For kids who still believe, Santa does not. Presents from parents and family are under the tree, but the big surprise things were not. The magic of running to the tree and seeing the treasures is great.

For kids who are near stopped believing, presents are wrapped with From: Santa written on them. It makes a nice transition to adult present giving.

Santa wraps presents. Sometimes he is even considerate enough to use the same fancy wrapping paper my family keeps on a big roll in the basement. Also he will leave a little note, card or label

"To Kate from Santa", ETC

I am old enoughto know this is all a bit of fun, but I still enjoy the pretense being kept up

Went and picked up some baklava for my dad for X Mas today

the other week he was telling me about how during the great depression, his father's driver was a Greek named Bobby (I cannot remember the last name), and every Christmas he would give my grandfather a 35mm film tin full of baklava. It's one of my dads original Christmas memories

So for this Christmas, I am going to replicate a film tin tomorrow and put my baklava inside

In my house, we make tortilla soup and watch whatever movie someone gets for christmas, usually a summer film. This year I can almost 100% assure that it'll be Harry Pothead. Oh joy. That sounds about as fun as nothing at all.

Here's Christmas video for everyone here. Happy Holidays to Chewers around the globe.

Spent too much time during two separate trips to Walmart today.

Now I hate humanity.

These are two of my favorite ornaments. The reindeer is my absolute favorite, and the first one we put on the tree every year. The red coat is my dad's ornament

Simply adorable!

Speaking of Christmas eats, I'm still going, as I watch Christmas movies till dawn.

I don't know if I'll be able to fit through my front door tomorrow, but I'll have no regrets about it.

My haul so far: some gorgeous pea coats and scarves from Mom, some nice seat covers for my car from Dad, a Coach purse from my aunt, season passes to the Durham Performing Arts Center from my best friend, generous gift card to Mellow Mushroom from the lil sis, a bunch of DVDs/gift cards from assorted family and friends, and the Akira Kurosawa Criterion Collection box-set from my boyfriend.

Also Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz.

Don't even think about questioning my cred for not already owning them.

Happy Christmas one and all.

My Birthday is on Friday so I tend to get a smaller hall for X-mas, but I got.  (from my wife)

A vintage Slimer figure

A Ray's Occult T Shirt - to add to my ever growing Ghostbusters T Shirt Collection

A Ghostbuster mouse mat

Saints Row - The Third

24 the Aftershave

Freakanomics

Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds (on CD)

Captain America (on Blue Ray)

SandStorm - a vintage Transformer

A Sonic Screwdriver Pen

A selection of Green and Blacks chocolate (my favorite)

I had gifts from the rest of the family but my wife always brings the awesome.
