After searching I didn't find any thread about the Criterion sale. I know the economy sucks but with $14 bucks and Barnes & Noble near by you can pick up those damn movie that you've wanted to awhile now.

Here's a coupon link:

Have at it Chewers, I was able to snag the blu-ray of If... for less than $16.

This means everyone should totally get Island of Lost Souls.

I am both a combination of cheap and poor, and I have bad habit of satiating my movie hunger over my actual hunger. Saving money makes me feel good inside, in lieu of actually accomplishing things.

Been waiting for the Cronos Blu-Ray's price to drop. Looks like now is the perfect time to pick it up, thanks for the heads-up.

Do it, the special feature in which Del Toro takes a tour of his man cave is worth the price alone. Also, The Three Colors Trilogy is coming out soon, and I'm hoping to snag that, can anyone confirm if it's worth the blind buy?

Bought a whole bunch of movies during the July sale, but there's at least 4 movies that I want to get my hands on, so I'll probably be doing some more buying.

This is the golden opportunity to get the higher-priced sets for the higher profile titles. Fanny & Alexander, Che, Three Colors Trilogy, Yojimbo and Sanjuro, The Complete Monterey Pop, The Battle of Algiers, and Gimme Shelter for me. Plus, my family is aware of my affinity for Criterions, which titles I want, and the sale, so I'm lookin' at more come Christmas. Booyah.

Just got back from my local B&N with Criterion Blu-Rays of Night of the Hunter, Videodrome, Cronos, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Blow Out and the Killing. Also Picked up the DVD of the Seven Samurai.

It'll be movie night tonight.

That's a ridiculously awesome haul. During the July sale I picked up the blus for High & Low and Seven Samurai. Too many good movies that need buying, Rushmore unfortunately doesn't come out until after the sale ends, and I've been hesitant to get Europa because I'm convinced Von Trier is better watched in HD.

Being unemployed I don't know why I even stepped into Barnes&Noble (hell, at this point I should have asked for a application) but I ended up walking out with some titles on Blu-Ray I didn't buy in the last couple of months because I was waiting for something like this (and because I was drunk at the time):

Kurenko

Phantom Carriage

Island of Lost Souls

Jimi Plays Monterey

No truer words were ever written.  It's a fabulous disc, which I snagged before the sale to have in time for Halloween.

I try to not go too nuts with the B&N Criterion sales, as they usually happen when I'm broke.  Last summer, I got The Night Of The Hunter on Blu and Hitchcock's The 39 Steps on DVD.  Last week, I grabbed the amazing Criterion Blu-ray of Fritz Lang's M.  All three are highly recommended.

It most definitely is worth the buy. I ordered the Criterion Three Colours on Blu-ray to replace my seperate DVDs and it's sublime. Amazon seem to have it cheapest at the moment from what I can see, Barnes and Noble is a bit more expensive. Three Colours: Blue is my favourite and one of my all time favourite films and the Criterion is worth having just for that film on blu-ray.

As for Barnes and Noble - I bought some via online to get delivered to Britain, with postage it's not much of a difference but got a few Criterions a few pounds cheaper due to the sale, but will not be ordering again because they took weeks and weeks to get here. So hopefully next time I'm in America, a sale will be on and I can be naughty and not declare at customs. wink.gif

I got myself on blu-ray - Black Narcissus, and Days of Heaven(this has a gorgeous cover!). Was going to get Blow Out but at the time it was cheaper on Amazon so got it from there instead.

Talking of Del Toro - not getting the Criterion edition of Cronos - but have just ordered a gorgeous box set that folds out into a fairy tale scene from Pan's Labyrinth and it holds the films Cronos, The Devil's Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth, all on blu-ray - Yum!!

Edit - Just saw the post where you said you bought Three Colours. Enjoy it?
