I don't think it's been mentioned yet, and it should be: that brief shot of Cooper watching the telethon surrounded by crushed cans of Red Bull is funnier than most entire comedies that were released this year.

Wish they got more higher profiles Guest Stars. Emily Blunt and Woopi are fine but Steve Martin wasn't avaliable?

Liked but didn't love it for some reason. The kids in my audience gasped when they saw Selena Gomez (I have no idea who she was) and that fat kid. I'll bet they didn't recognise Leslie Feist though.

I think she's the other half of the new super couple with Justin Bieber.

So long as there isn't an image on the back of Miss Piggy spread eagle on an autopsy table, I just might have to buy that.

Well My son's birthday was yesterday (the big 6 years old) and I took him and his 5 friends to the Muppets with some of their Parents. It's kind of weird when all the Parents "got" the film and the kids were either emotionally involved in the story or completely bored out of their minds. Luckily my son really enjoyed it.

I'm glad the Muppets are back and I can't wait for their return to the small screen most likely next year.

One more thing i liked. 80's Robot.

"Groovy to the Max!"

For a second, i wondered if it was Paulie's robot from Rocky IV.

GRODY to the max.

Some 80's kid you are. :P

Statler and Waldorf. Showing internet trolls how heckling is done since the 70s.

As far as the ending is concerned, I actually like what we got. I know this might seem like an odd comparison, but the ending has a bit of a Rocky vibe to it. It doesn't matter if they raised the money or not. They set their differences aside, put on a show, and were able to make audiences laugh again. The studio or their names aren't important. It is the fact that they went the distance and did what they are good at.

Took the 6 year old to see it. Both loved it.

Tons of families at my local cinema and I was a bit concerned that it would be sold out, especially when the ticket seller said "hold on a minute.."

But then when she heard it was the Muppets she said, "nah, you'll be alright for that"

Apparently it was Alvin and the Chipmunks that had sold out.

While I'm happy I saw the Muppets it makes me sad that irredeemably bad shite like Alvin and blah fucking blah sells out while the Muppets was only half full.

Very happy my girl loved the Muppets though, I'd have been gutted if she hadn't.

Went a second time with the whole family this past week. Everyone loved it. The jokes are all still great, but having heard them once before, I was much more focused on the emotional beats... and the film really kicked my ass in that regard. I just relate too much to Walter/Gary. Like the main themes and plot (ESPECIALLY the campfire scene) in the original, this flick really resonates. I get a throat lump just thinking about it.

My oldest daughter spent 2 and a half hours today watching The Best of the Muppet Show DVD and loving it.

So this film has definately done something great, introduced the girl to classic Muppetry  :)

The voices were a little disctracting at certian moments but Fozzie was the only one to feel consistently off.

Apart from that I maniacal laughed, maniacal laughed A LOT and couple of those songs are stuck in my head now (Life's A Happy Song particularly).

I love Life's a Happy Song to an almost embarrassing degree. How much? I don't care about the Oscars, but I'll STILL be pissed if it doesn't win!

Interesting. I was really impressed with the Fozzie performance, as far as feeling very Oz-like.

I think in terms of the accent it wasn't bad but there were several moments it sounded too high and very thin that stood out to me. It wasn't just that it struck me as different from his original voice, but it felt wrong for a character as full of life as Fozzie, even in his quieter moments. Kermit's was more thin than his original voice at certain points too, but not to the distracting amount Fozzie's was for me and Kermit is a less outward focused character anyway so it fit him in a way to go quiet and meek at times.

And on the subject of the songs, I'd forgotten that Bret McKenzie had done some of them until that I'm A Muppet Of A Man number when I was all, "Holy cow, that's super Conchordsy." I really love how much love clearly went into the making of this film.

For me it was the way that McKenzie had Chris Cooper's voice go up at the end of the lyric "...I got more mon-NAY" that first gave me that big Conchord jab.

Really? I got the. Conchords vibe in Life's a Happy Song, with the "Life's a fillet of fish, hey!" ".....yes, it is...." exchange.

Honestly, this movie kinda makes me want to check out Flight of the Conchords period, since I've never seen it. There are a lot of things in that category.

If you're looking for a half hour TV comedy show with musical interludes set in New York in which the humour is a combination of dry deadpan and goofily surreal then that's the show for you Chris.

It's not as wigged out as The Mighty Boosh but it is just as lovable.

That indeed sounds like my cup of tea. Isn't Kristin Schaal in it? I like her a lot.

God knows when I'll actually get around to watching it, but thanks for the recommendation anyway.

She's their biggest fan. It's incredible and worth watching.

And the best song (Muppet or Man) really feels like a Concords song in a lot of ways.

That song has been in the entire family's head since watching THE MUPPETS. Even my Mom has burst into that one impromptu on more than one occasion.

But I'm also a huge Conchords fan too.

That cracked me up and I love that song but I didn't click on that one because it's so relentlessly upbeat and unConchordsy. The "Yes it is" bit seemed like a more typical musical comedy exchange to me, like you might get out of the Whedons or Parker and Stone, whereas the playful but plaintive Muppet Or A Man song had that strong trademark Conchords accent in the lyrics and phrasing.

The dumb thing is it took me that long to remember though because even our 6 o'clock news shows carried the story of Bret working on them a couple of months ago.

Treat me like a test subject.  I've been aware of the existence of the Muppets for most of my life, but I've never seen the show or any of their films.  I've always found them very appealing, but I've just never gotten to the point where I'd actually watch their stuff.  Because of that, I don't have the nostalgic buttons for this movie to push.

So I went to go see the film tonight.  No tears here, I'm sorry to say.

It's cute and fun for sure.  But never did I get all that caught up in anything.  The whole thing felt sloppy and rushed.  The 'sloppy' is certainly a part of its charm, but I didn't think it walked that fine line where it was charming enough for me to look past.

I did love the strong sense of melancholy in the story of the Muppets that we do see more of (Kermit and Fozzie), but a lot of that goes by the wayside once they start putting on the show.

Cooper's rap scene really was the highlight.  That just took me by total surprise.

I also loved how healthy Amy Adams looked in this.  I was told that she may have just given birth prior to the beginning of production.  She was beautiful.  Pity that Snyder will surely have her slim down to a stick to play Lois Lane.

Give the original Muppet Movie a look when you have a chance, Joon.

EDIT - BTW, this film is now an Oscar Nominee.  Normally I couldn't give two shits, but it's kinda cool in this case.  I wasn't expecting that at all.
