UNIVERSAL WANTS YOU TO THINK SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNSTMAN IS A MEDIEVAL, FANTASY INCEPTION

...and it looks better than you might have expected.

Eh, I just have no interest in a grimm and gritty (see what I did there?) Snow White movie. They can gussy it up all they want, and it still will seem to me to be a creatively bankrupt enterprise

Visually looks really interesting. But I can't really imagine sitting through two hours of it. When you break it down, this is still Snow White and this seems to be taking itself really, really seriously.

Am I the only one who noticed that there's barely any Snow White in this thing?

It sounds exactly like Zach Hemsey's "Mind Heist", but if you've heard Hemsey's stuff, he's done like ten other tracks that sound just like "Mind Heist", so... well, who am I kidding? Of course they're biting off "Inception", Hemsey or no.

That being said, I was skeptical, but this looks fucking sweet. I guess this director's a first-timer? Dude looks like he's a fan of Lady Gaga, "The Fountain" and "Lord of the Rings". Color me interested.

Miss Bitey-lip fairer than Charlize Theron? Mmmmkay.

It is very well cast, and there's a lot of eye-candy in that trailer. I'm hearing some of Daft Punks 'Tron' in that trailer as well. Expectations raised to 'cautious'

It looks, visually, amazing, but like Malloy I can't get past the fact that this is a DARK 'N EDGY version of Snow White (notice the lack of dwarves? Because those would be too goofy and shit!) If they'd added some obvious new wrinkle to the story I might feel otherwise, but no, it seems to be a more or less straight retelling of a fairy tale that's trying way too hard to be BADASS.

Hey NBC Universal, quit being cocks. Where the hell can I even see this damn thing? Looks like everything's been pulled off of youtube (don't tell me this is some yahoo video bullshit). People use youtube, and very little else, for videos. Though, I'm guessing they're taking it down so they can surprise the Twilight crowd when that premieres...? Maybe?

Also, if someone even remotely close to Nolan pitches Inception II, studios will kill one another for the chance to produce it. That's some big money right there.

Oh, it's down for everyone? I thought I couldn't watch it because of me being a third world savage.

Naked Charlize covered in milk?   Sold.

I also concur that Kristen Stewart being considered "fairer" than one of the most beautiful actresses working today is some Bizarro World shit right there.

Where is everyone actually watching this?

I really really like the crow effects.

Thanks!

EDIT - Well they certainly have my attention.  I just hope it turns out well.

Looks good. I think i'll check this out.

Looks cool and epic, visually gripping. All in the name of Grittalistim!

Embed works again.

And there are dwarves. Exceptionally well-casted dwarves. I'm also up to guarded optimism.

To be fair, they do say that she's "destined" to be fairer, not that she actually is.

Oh I'm sure there are, it's just hilarious that the trailer leaves them out--the most well-known aspect of the story--because it's trying so hard to be KEWL.

But the dwarves *are* there in the trailer. Look closer. They are in two scenes around the 1:10-12 mark.

I am very impressed by this trailer.

I personally hear more Tron: Legacy than Inception. And it has the same shattering person hit by blade effect. It looks OK. I'm more excited for Tarsem's, but much prefer Theron to Roberts.

I had been giving Tarsem's Mirror, Mirror the edge due to the fact that it should be at least visually stunning (if nothing else), but the trailer for this one was a lot more interesting than I expected.  I'm really curious to see footage from Tarsem's version now.

If I recall it's Ian McShane, Nick Frost, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan and Ray Winstone but seem to be missing one.

Just Wiki'd it. The seventh one's Eddie Izzard. SOLD.

That is an INSANE list of dwarves.

Plus Charlize Theron covered in milk. Thor swinging tools again.

These two sentences are related.

Guys, this makes the movie look fucking great. It's got interesting-looking creatures, deranged medieval production design, and a bunch of ridiculously classy actors (Stewart excluded). Theron in the milk-bath is just an awesome image. And the mirror-man? That's a great visual interpretation of that idea from the story, I think. I mean, fuck -- the mirror is like watery robes dripping down him. That's cool.

I'm not saying it's gonna be awesome, since the whole idea of it reeks of hackneyed studio brainstorming, but it damn well looks awesome.

kristen stewart is in this? barely noticed her.  maybe snow white will be in the next trailer.

They're clearly pushing on the Theron involvement. Which mystifies me, since it's not like Theron is a big box office draw. At least, not for anyone I know or which would be indicated based on the box-office performance of her previous films. But she certainly does add a layer of repute and mature hotness to the proceedings.

If this had someone I actually gave a shit about instead of Pout Poutstein, I'd be climbing the walls. It looks really good.

Probably because she looks fucking awesome in this. This ad makes it look like she and cool effects are the whole movie, and that might be enough.

Only question: is this really supposed to be a trilogy? Because that seems, oh, a wee bit much.

I've really only seen "K-Stew" in one film, but on the subject of her lip biting, I think it's good acting. Some people do that in real life, in moments of emotion. It's just a human expression, not sure why it's so scorn worthy

I have nothing against K-Stew. She good good in Adventureland and The Runaways. I know The Runaways was OK at best, but she was good in it.

The trailer was interesting, but it doesn't make me want to see the movie.

I have no problem with K-Stew. The role of Bella in Twilight is just an awful part that no one could elevate. If you see her in other things it's clear that she can actually act. Plus, she's plenty cute IMO. Like Kirsten Dunst I find she is unjustly maligned on the internet.

I like Kristen Stewart more than Charlize Theron.

Theron by a wide margin at this point. Stewart was good in Into The Wild thats about it for me.

Definitely more 'Tron: Legacy' than 'Inception' in that score.

And it feels like a Timur Bekmambetov film.

The music in the trailer is almost an exact copy of the music in the Inception trailer.

Smart move.

I wrote this thing off as soon as I heard Bunny-tooth Bella was in it, but I really dug the trailer.  Puzzled about the Inception music, but I figure they wanted to invoke the memories of a good film by using the music.  Snow White in armor does give me douche-chill flashbacks to Alice in armor in Alice in Wonderland, though.  Different films entirely, I know, but I couldn't help but have that thought.

There's barely any Snow White because having Kristen Stewart in a film is going to automatically turn off a section of the public because she's associated with Twilight.  Maximize your assets, hide your flaws.

I assume they've gone the Wicked route and Theron pretty much is the main character, or close to it.

That would be the smart thing to do, honestly.

Yeah, but Wicked wasn't called Dorothy and the Witches, just saying it helps to have, y'know, the titular character, I dunno...be the main character?

The more I keep watching this, a) the more I'm impressed by the visuals and b) the more I'm worried it's going to be just that. They cut together like a dream.

After watching the trailer for Mirror,Mirror, is it safe to call the battle of the Snow White movies in this one's favor?

Certainly seems like it.

I've read the original version of Snow White and the Huntsman (the Viggo one), and it's very much the Huntsman's picture. But that script has definitely changed dramatically. Their difference in age was a big plot point and it wouldn't work at all with Hemsworth.

Theron's definitely the better interpretation of the Queen, but the accent isn't doing her any favors.  Probably would have been best to ditch it altogether in the rehearsals, because when she starts speaking some of that dialogue, the trailer becomes particularly difficult to take seriously.  Some of the beats here are so self-consciously KEWL that it's actually uncomfortable to watch in concentrated doses.

As has been pointed out, though, Theron's better looking than her Snow White, whereas Julia Roberts actually has about the right relationship. Though K-Stew isn't chopped liver, it must be said. Of course, I say that having never seen her act.

Well I think she's cuter! SO THERE!

Please go sign up for the CHUD Christmas gift swap.  That way, if you are chosen as the person I buy a gift for, I can get you some eyeglasses.

Stewart seems like the type of person who'd like to cuddle while listening to Tegan and Sara.

At least in my obsessively rehearsed fantasies.

I do like the visuals here. Looks better than the Tarsem version in that regard, surprisingly. It reminds me of the old Henson STORYTELLER series, and that is always a good thing IMO.

Talk about night and day in tonal differences with MIRROR/MIRROR. Overly serious vs overly cheesy.
