HOLLYWOOD GETS TO OVERREACT TO RICKY GERVAIS AGAIN!

Golden Globes have hired the big meanie to host once again.

Hopefully he does his impression of people with Downs Syndrome on the air. That would go over well.

Bring on Liam Neeson as co-host!  For added humor.

This makes me so happy. The GG are way better than the Oscars....not in the credibility department, but because the stars and nominees are drinking as the evening goes along. Drunk actors/crew + Gervais = comedy gold.

Meh. I think hosting awards shows just blunts anyone. Gervais was telling pretty lame jokes last time around. Billy Crystal? Do I even need to begin? Awards shows are where comedians go to die.

Sounds like the people of the Golden Globes know this is the only way people will watch again.

No, I heard he has full blown AIDS.  He's riddled with it.

Worked for me.

Other than being mean to Angelina, I thought he was pretty funny.  The funny thing is he totally knew they'd invite him back.

Agreed Gervais means i'll be watching. Love it.

Yeah, pulling Downs Syndrome faces on Twitter is comedy genius. He's got balls, but his comedy's about as obvious as it gets.

Everyone better prepare themselves for a disappointment.

That is probably most wise... but I don't wanna believe it!

I'd like to think Gervais is smart enough to know that people expect him to man the fuck up. This years ceremony is going to be pimped as the coming of Hollywoods worst enemy, so he better be packing more than lame Tim Allen jokes

There are only two ways this will go:

a. He comes hungry for blood and actually goes after them. No fake insults. Very, very, very, improbable.

b. LOL you guys I was just kidding!  Less improbable.

He speaks truth to power, that's the draw. The jokes were obvious low-hanging fruit this year, not some Oscar Wilde-level shit.

How cool would it be to have Stephen Fry host one of these and just have him go to town on everyone?

I've heard him say this would be his last time ever hosting. So I would like to think he burns every single bridge.

Fry or Steve Coogan would be great, because they'd destroy the room subtly. Only a quarter or so of the press would even pick up on the fact that they were taking the piss.

Agreed. I love Gervais dearly, but his M.O. is basically 'Outspoken comedian who offends everybody' Fry and Coogan have a far more genteel public persona, which helps mask the fact that they're just as scathing.

I can only see Gervais getting more merciless this time; he knows his own niche in the comedy world and knows that that's what the audience is expecting. the fact that he was asked back at all just goes to show just how insincere the outrage was last year.

As long as we're dreaming, I say Rob Brydon hosts the entire thing as the Man in a Box.
