Modern Family catch-all

It appears the preferred threads are those created for the show, rather than the season.  If there is a third season thread, or if I am duplicating efforts I apologize.

 

This has been going for a few weeks, yet I have seen no discussion.  Are people still watching this?  Even IGN stopped reviewing it.  Are people burned out?  I like it, but the novelty wore off last season for me.  It's still must-see, but I am not really excited to see new episodes.

 

So, sleep-clowning.  I cannot possibly be the only person that groaned at that one.  It was trying so hard to be hysterical, but that joke fell so horribly flat for me.

 

Otherwise, show is consistent and pretty sharp, but it's kind of cruise control right now it seems.

Not sure why this exists outside the regular Modern Family thread, maybe it could be merged. 

 

Anyway as amusing as I find the show, it is saccharine and safe. I would argue it's been on cruise control since the very first episode. That seems to be the show's M.O. 

 

Cameron and other gay guy whose name escapes me are wonderfully portrayed but their relationship sucks. Aside from the much mocked complete lack of affection between the two, they also seem rather hostile towards each other much of the time. 

 

That being said, yes, the clown gag was ridiculous, but I'd be lying if I said this show didn't consistently crack me up. It's the best ensemble on television, no one in the cast ever feels slighted, and it makes me laugh, despite it's many faults and non-truths.

Also I take it back, it's definitely not the best ensemble on TV. But it's a very good one.

I still watch, but the novelty has worn off. And I don't think the writing is as sharp as it was in S1.

 

Worst crime?  Claire Dunphy: quite *comfortably* the worst character on TV. What an annoying, shrill, demanding, self-obsessed harpy. I used to like Julie Bowen. Not any more.

Yes, please do merge it.  I could only find threads from the previous seasons and would not have created this if I found a thread dedicated to only this show.  My apologies.
