So then, it's time for a Movie Draft. Entry in the Draft is open to everyone with a Chewer profile, until we hit 24 players. Then it'll be dealt with on a case by case basis. All you need do to sign up is post in this thread that you want to sign up.
This will be run exactly like the decade drafts Kirby used to run on Chud, so if you were part of those in any way you know what to expect. If not, the basic idea is that everyone gets a draft position, and when your turn comes around, you select one film made between the years 2000 and 2009. Over the course of two weeks (M-F), everyone will create a list of five films, representing the best possible selections, according to you. You can try and organize them into a cohesive theme, or you could try and program the best film festival ever, or you could just pick the five best movies available.
The Draft will occur 11/28-12/9, with NO bonus round. The drafters will be semi-randomly sorted into two groups (Group 1 and Group 2), and they will alternate days. It will snake around, so Group 1 drafts Monday, Group 2 will draft Tuesday AND Wednesday, with Group 1 coming back around on Thursday and Friday. Drafters will be grouped into time brackets (TBD by the number of drafters). If you aren't scheduled to draft for a couple hours or whatever, but everyone above you has already played, you are free to draft. The time being used will be Eastern Standard (US East Coast), so be sure to allow for that. When you sign up, be sure to say what your time zone is, as it will used to determine your draft position.
Movies are eligible if the imdb release date for the US is between January 1st, 2000 and December 31st, 2009. If you want to draft a movie that doesn't fit that criterion, be it a foreign release, a DTV, or whatever, you will have to make your case that it belongs in the 00s period.
If you're wondering why we'd do this, rest assured, these drafts are typically the blue ribbon Chud board throwdowns. The discussion threads can get contentious, and you will definitely end up with a couple dozen new movies on your netflix queue. Fortunes will be made, rep will be lost, and themes will be ruined. I'd suggest new drafters take a look at one of the old ones. They're not bad reads. Any questions I didn't think of, address them here.
And with that,
