Dead on and exactly why making him a supporting character fails every time. It also strips him of his pathos, when he's not the major protagonist. You don't focus on Kermit's hopes & dreams and desire to keep this kooky clan together, and he just looks like a wet blanket (er wet felt).

Unless you consider SPACE a movie where the Muppets are playing characters of themselves like CAPER. Kermit and Fozzie aren't really twins, any more they are Dickens characters.
