Really engaging character piece. Ian McKellan is masterful as James Whale, doing his best seduction charm here. Brendan Fraser puts in a career performance, although it's a little stiff at times (that fits the character). Amazing.
Beautiful imagery. Combining the landscape of the Frankenstein films with WWI battlefield imagery is remarkable and, in retrospect, inevitable.
Tight script. Has so much to say about the Hollywood of then and today, how it's all nepotism, a popularity contest, and what rumors can do to a life. Great companion piece to Edwood.
Love.
