I'm a massive fan of the original Brit mini-series trilogy. Hell I learned more about politics from watching those, Yes Minister (& Yes Prime Minister) and the mini-series A Very British Coup growing up as a kid than I did in high school politics.

 

The breaking the fourth wall, letting you in on the political machinations was always a wonderfully delicious aspects of the Brit series and if thats the main inspirations Finchers taking and applying to modern US politics, along with his obviously very pragmatic if not downright cynical view of that world, then we may end up with a dark, nasty sibling of The West Wing - and that could be fuckin aces.
