Interesting / Funny Facebook argument I had.

I know the subject of Abortion has been done to death but I thought I would share this argument I had on Facebook about it. I'm Kyler Carter, for the record.

As a former fetus myself I am opposed to abortion

    • James Clark I thought about it for yrs and there is really only one logical reason for abortion to me and that is rape. I wouldnt want to carry or have a woman family member carry a baby when she was raped buts thats the only thing i could think of to support abortion really

All right, I'll bite.

 

I believe the eggs from chickens that we eat are unfertilized, so we're in the clear there.

 

As an actual medical doctor:

 

The number one cause of aborted pregnancies is the human body. Between 40-50% of fertilized embryos are found wanting for various reasons and ejected by normal human biology. I believe the embryo having a genetic defect is often why the body chooses to prevent implantation and eject it, it's part of the body's error correcting mechanism.

 

Embryos don't develop anything remotely resembling a heart until many, many weeks down the line.

 

Basically like you said and stepping away from either side of the overall argument, you were arguing with some people who for the best part had no idea what they were talking about.

 

Really, in my opinion, the best thing people could do to reduce abortion is to promote sex ed and contraception as much as possible. Not that that's likely to happen any time soon, right?

Kind of related:

 

In Ohio some right to lifers were trying to push through a 'heartbeat' amendment, basically trying to make abortions illegal if you can hear the heartbeat, and called a fetus as a 'witness'

 

they got the 'witness' up to the stand all ready to go, and then couldn't find a heartbeat.

 

The amendment was defeated.

I hope these people are prepared to have every miscarriage investigated as a potential case of manslaughter, if not outright murder.  Nevermind the devastation the mother is going through, a person is dead!

I'm still trying to figure out if this Facebook argument was posted to show what happens when you throw a pro-choicer into a room of pro-lifers, or to show how annoying it is when people use 'lol' and 'lmao' way too much.  Were you arguing with the joker?

Yeah, people seem too ready to dismiss nine months of pregnancy as some kind of inconvenience.  Nevermind the cost of doctor's visits, pre-natal care, and the actual delivery, and that's without any complications.  Plus the missed income from not being able to work in some cases.

 

Who's really more inhumane here, the person who sees a fetus as a clump of barely differentiated cells, or the person who sees it as a punishment for a lack of responsibility?

I can't remember where I first heard this (comedian maybe?)....something to the effect-   if men were able to get pregnant, there would be abortion clinics on every street corner...special  Sunday NFL $20 off coupons....

 

Also of note, a lot of people that are 'pro-life' don't seem to have a problem with in-vitro fertilization....which usually requires the removal of multiple eggs....where the 'extra' eggs end up being destroyed.

 

And then we have the "pro-life" individuals that could give a damn about the children once they are born....

"THEY SHOULD GET A JOB!"

 

It's almost as if you're on your own once you get out into the world.
