KRAKEN!

I am an artist fascinated with the mythological beast, have done rough drafts (at best) of what i could grasp from the POTC series and am neurotically fixated on the subject. I need to find great shots in full of the beast for my next painting. My real desire is to find one of the CGI artist's rendering in a 3d environment but I won't hold my breath.

I've been on this kick for classic/newer monster mashup paintings for the last two years or so; this is one of my milestone paintings, next comes my pre-WWII mashup series I'll post some of my stuff up when I get time.

This is the cover art for THE BEAST, and it is a painting that has scared me since I was very young. It is one of my favorite Kraken related images, and I hope it serves to inspire you!

Right on man! I'm really trying to find head shots right now. footage from POTC2 has some good body shots and mouth but you never really see the whole thing

A bit of trivia die Krake (plural die Kraken) is just German for "the octopus".

Some cooler results than your standard Google search:

Thanks Shan, I didn't know that interesting bit-of-tid :) Now that I think about it, I might try putting some german influence into it.

Thanks Mod for that; very VERY helpful. I hope to come up with something soon. I'll keep you posted

Following Nexus's link, I found this. http://missmonster.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/pocket-kraken

If only it had a real watch under it. I would have snapped this up. Still thinking about it...

I am in no way connected to that site, but man is it interesting. Now thinking about ordering a mask for Halloween next year.
