MEET PAUL NASCHY!

Hey Creatures!

Just saw over at Dark Delicacies' website that Spanish cult actor/director, Paul Naschy, is doing very rare US appearance/signing at their store in Burbank, CA on 03/15/03. He'll be signing DVD's and picures.

Hang loose,
ILSA

What has he done, did I miss the boat on this guy as well?

Because the update was fucked, I will assume you didn't see the same thing on the Corner (<a href="http://www.creature-corner.com/news3/feb21naschy.php3" target="_blank">here</a>}. Very cool oppurtunity, assuredly.

I didn't realise this guy had fans.

Who is this man and what has he done?

Jeez, you guys. I hate to be a crochety old man, but 3 posts reading "who is this guy?" - incredible.
OK, these films aren't classics ( most of 'em are pretty bad), but Naschy is a legend in the genre.
Maybe if he had been in a couple of the "F13" or "Nightmare" flics...
You know, the Horror genre was around before the '80's...

Jesus, I'm glad SOMEONE has heard of him.
Naschy's werewolf films are the stuff of legend - and he's considered a national treasure in Spain.

From my contribution to some werwolf movies discussion we had last last month:

Then there's the Paul Naschy a.k.a. Jacinto Molina cycle of Waldemar Daninsky werewolf pictures. Sure, not much cop as effects bonanzas, but as heady, affectionate tit/arse-filled European companions to the great Curse Of The Werewolf from Hammer, they ooze charm, sleaze, grue and gothic-tinged melancholy in abundance. Witness: La Marca del Hombre Lobo (whose lead role was initially offered to Lon Chaney Jnr before he bowed out through ill health and the role fell to Naschy), Nights of the Werewolf , Dracula vs. Frankenstein, The Fury of the Wolfman, The Werewolf vs. the Vampire Woman, Dr. Jekyll and the Werewolf, Night of the Howling Beast, The Craving and La Besha y la Espada Magica amongst seemingly endless others...

Didn't he used to be a wrestler as well ?

No, I don't think he ever wrestled. You're thinking of Santo. Naschy was, however, a pro bodybuilder before he got into acting.

More importantly, who is going to pick something up for me when they go? I will send someone the dough for an autographed pic...please please please...
