Saw this pic in EW, and my interest in this project couldn't be lower. I feel so disconnected from today's pop culture. I mean, yes, this is a soulless studio project in the first place, but I don't think there would ever have been a time in my life, even during my tempestuous teenage years, where a HANSEL AND GREDLE monster hunting film would have seemed like a good idea. The regular story is so much darker and more interesting, a Del Torro adaptation might Getty hopes up, but this kind of "clever" reimagining leaves me cold
BTW: Gemma Artington is just awful by every objective measure. The fact she is still turning up in big budget stuff like this astounds me. How did POPTSOT not wound her appeal with the studios? I don't get it
PS: for those in the mood for a creepy tale of witches and children, be sure to check out HECKEDY PEG from your local library. It's a frightening volume, to say the least, and the illustrations are marvelous and haunting
