Will J.J. Abrams help make Tim's Christmas Wish come true in Star Trek 2? Probably not.

I'd like to get randy with her "yeomen".  What were we talking about again?

I really don't know anything about this character or this actress so I will withhold judgement. Instead I'll just say that IMHO they should bring back Ensign Ro, because she was rad and the fact her character kinda disappeared always felt to me like a missed opportunity

Ensign Ro disn't even born at this point in the Star Trek universe.

She also apparently fell in love with Quark in the DS9 novels. WTF.

I know but IMHO they don't really seem to be taking the continuity too seriously with TREK lately. After ENTERPRISE kinda of screwed everything up, I wouldn't really mind seeing (minor) STTNG characters show up in the new films.. though I guess it's a moot point because there is no one who could ever replace Michelle Forbes

She's dropped in my estimation, I can only hope it wasn't cannon!

If this is gonna be a Kahn movie the choice is clear...she's gotta be Dr. Carol Marcus.

The problem with Khan is his back story. Wasn't he the product of genetic engineering during a nuclear war in the 1990s? Sounds plausible to a script writer in the 1960s, but today it's up there with Escape from New York's Manhattan Island prison, Predator 2's L.A. gang wars of 1997, and Demolition Man's cryo-prisons.

"Space cleric"?

She could also be Marla McIvers, Khan's submissive. Shit, maybe she's his second in command; she looks way more like a product of selective breeding than Benecio does.

Which is why they made the new Star Trek movie a direct continuation of the old Star Treks even going so far as to have Leonard Nimoy reprise his role as Spock instead of just flat out rebooting it?

Yes, clearly continuity was completely disregarded.

As someone pointed out to me a while back, the three main female crew members of the Enterprise were a secretary, a nurse, and a telephone operator. All of whom walked around in ridiculously short skirts mooning over the male crew members. Not exactly a leap forward for feminism.

I wonder who you'd blame for that. The first pilot had a woman as Pike's First Officer, and the second pilot had Sally Kellerman as a brilliant psychologist.

You just reference the Eugenics Wars of the 21st century and don't give an exact year.  Continuity remains intact and the writers don't look like idiots.  Then again, I don't think anyone in the audience would really care if they started spouting off about genetically-engineered supermen from the 90s.

I have no issue with this news...
