Evil Dead remake gets a pair of distributors.

Hm. Keeping an open mind about this one. From what Cody's saying, I get the feeling that they're going more in line with the original in terms of tone, which is IMO the wisest approach. Try for the wackier tone of the sequels and you'll inevitably suffer from comparisons with the Raimi/Campbell combo, while the more serious original leaves plenty of scope for expansion. Having Raimi in the producer's seat is encouraging, anyway. Wasn't Campbell and Robert Tapert involved with this as well?

Both Campbell and Tapert are producing as well.  One of Bruce's concessions for allowing the remake (he's a rights holder) was that there would be no "Ash" in the script.  Anyway, they are definitely going for the full-blown horror of the original..........though I wouldn't be surprised if a bit of the mischievousness of the demons shows up.  Anyone expecting pratfalls and Stooges routines in this will be sorely disappointed though.  I just hope it doesn't turn into a CGI-fest.
