I've not seen I STAND ALONE but I have seen BAISE MOI and I hated it. Really amateurish camerawork and nearly no plot at all. I read the novel it was based on and that was like a hardcore, ultra-violent version of Ridley Scott's THELMA & LOUISE. So, naturally, I expected the film to be something along that line. What I got was a poorly acted and directed mess with some really dull hardcore sex probably thrown in for shock value.
What really annoys me is that the writer of the original novel is also the director of the film! So one should think, she would be able to film her own book. Looking at the result, I think someone (everyone) else wouldn have been a better choice. Hell, even Paul W.S. Anderson would have done a better job with this. That should be warning enough ...
