This installment has the blackest eyes, the devil's eyes.

Great new column. Definitely right about the re-imagining verdict, and I have to say, I think you were pretty kind in your descriptions of Zombie's "interpretation." I don't think I can ever hear something about that movie and not think "Fuck You out of 10."

Can't wait to see the next installment, as Let the Right One In is one of my favorite movies of the aughts. Despite the good word around it, I still haven't brought myself to check out Let Me In.

Thanks for the support.

The primary purpose of the column isn't to review the films per se, but to explore what these terms have come to mean on a film-by-film basis. But because my opinion of the films will factor in, there will be a secondary review element. But you know, it's a work in progress.

Another excellent piece!

I'll have to finally sit down and watch Let The Right One In before your next entry.

Cool column.

another great entry Sebastian. I saw Carpenters HALLOWEEN (on 35mm, it looked stunning) for the first time since double-billing the Zombie flicks, and it was a surreal experience. I kept noticing certain boxes Zombie was checking off, but I was reminded more of how those Friedberg/Seltzer SOMETHING MOVIE's seem to be cobbled together from random trailers.

Looking forward to the next installment

One of my many problems with the Zombie Halloween is Myers back story isn't that smart. Being bullied and killing animals is how serial killers start 101. Anyone who watches AnE or The History Channel would know this. Who wouldn't come out crazy with that OTT redneck family. By trying to make Halloween smart, he made it dumb and ugly. I also hated the way McDowell said, "As a matter of fact, it was." I didn't like that he said it with a winking smirk.

Last year I saw Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper co-headline a show. Alice blew him off the stage.

Zombie himself would probably agree with you.
