Because they can't keep anyone on the job.

Terry Gilliam?

Shane Carruth?

The Hughes Brothers?

George Miller???

Who is available?

Anybody else read the headline and think it meant Jerry Seinfeld was going to be directing Thor? Just me? Okay.

I was just thinking the same thing.

As much as I love Neil Marshall's stuff, I don't think he's suited to Thor at all.

Time for Tim Van Patten to get called up to the majors.

I totally thought of Seinfeld too, but I assumed the headline meant Larry Charles got the gig, since he directed many "Seinfeld" episodes and is now a bona fide movie director. Would be quite a change of pace from his work on movies like "Borat", "Religulous", and "Bruno", that's for sure.

Is John Woo done with Hollywood for good?  Because I would think he'd be a natural for the themes, action, and imagery of these Marvel franchises.

Oh man... if ONLY Woo would be given free reign to work with the material in a THOR sequel.  I would want him to go completely insane with it.

If not Woo, then how about Tsui Hark?

Feige and others have pretty much stated that the film will mainly be taking place across various realms that we haven't seen yet.  Considering the fact that they really won't have too much control over the story itself, we might as well nab someone who can go off the rails with the visuals.

Fuck it, how about Mel Gibson?

Drew Goddard ("The Cabin In The Woods") was considered for "Thor 2" before Marvel settled on Patty Jenkins. Perhaps they'll reconsider him. He's already worked with Chris Hemsworth and he'd be able to write or at least rewrite the script.

Only one man is suited for this.

Paul Verhoeven.

Verhoeven would be amazing...but we'd probably have to settle for De Bont.

The Verhoeven idea only makes me ponder the glory that could be if only Basil Poleduris were still alive to score it too.

I guess MARVEL is that hard to deal with?

I love this suggestion.

In my dream world, Ridley Scott would direct Thor's big adventure across the Nine Realms, and it would cost $750 million to make.

Add a Queen soundtrack and I'm totally onboard.

I just hope that the sequel is just as...THORoughly Enjoyable, as the Original!  I applaud the suggestions of Ridley Scott, and Paul Verhoven!  Verilly, By Odin's Beard! I hope that Marvel will be able to find a director...Worthy of THOR!

Yes as a film fan I have no pity for them. So mucho of what worked last time owed entirely to Branagh and the focus he put on various elements. The film is a surprise hit exceeding their expectations, and they repay him by kicking him off the sequel (despite his having praised them and all but asked for the job on the commentary track of the DVD) so they can find someone they can better control and micro manage? It's bullshit

I have no real faith in the studio, or THOR 2. If they manage to convince someone interesting to work for them, I'll just wait for the inevitable stories of fights in the editing room, complaints over a heavy studio hand, and then finally the news that person hasn't been invited back for the next one

In all honesty, this whole marvel shared universe thing is some scary corporate BS, and IMHO doesn't bode well for the future of cinema

Sign Guillermo up, send Thor to Niflheim to fight standard Del Toro vagina monsters, profit.

Both are great, and I'd like to spring John "13TH WARRIOR" McT out of director jail for a nomination, resuscitation, and redemption.

Going back to the guy I'd named months ago:

Bernard Rose

I want to make sloppy love to the Rose suggestion.

There's some new news on this front, and the two guys being suggested are unknown TV guys.

Marvel, keeping it real.
