NYUK NYUK SIGH. THE THREE STOOGES HAS A TRAILER

At least the trailer has boobs.

I'll admit it, I laughed at a lot of the physical bits in the trailer. But I am someone who watched the Stooges non-stop as a kid. I loved the Stooges. The film doesn't look very good, but all of the Stooge stuff seems 100% on the mark, so I don't know what people were expecting if it wasn't this.

I thought this film was supposed to be a biopic?  Instead we get a retread of The Brady Bunch Movie/The Beverly Hillbillys/etc.  Just take the classic property and stick it into the modern era.  Ugh.

I was hoping for a period piece...

I've never cared for the STOOGES, and I've always suspected that many that claim them as a favorite are just jumping on a bandwagon. Therefore I find it gratifying to see reaction to this trailer is so overwhelming negative from so many self professed STOOGES fans (not talking about people on CHUD), when in fact the physical hijinks look almost identical to the original shorts

I think for many, this is was first experience with the Stooges, as they never actually did watch the originals*

I think fans of the originals (even the fans you suspect don't really like the Stooges and are just saying it to boost, you know, their pop culture status) can have a negative response to this trailer without it calling into question their love of the original shorts. I think it's OK and probably natural to respond negatively to a carbon copy (no matter how close it is) while pining for the original.

No doubt that is true, but I think there are also people whose supposed love of the STOOGES slapstick humor is going to be called to the mat over this new flick

PS: "I saw a ghost with a telescope": lol!

The return of the waterarm.  Holy fuck!  Bless you, Matchstick.

The Farrelly's already made what is practically a 2 Stooges movie in Dumb & Dumber.  This feels like a retreat to safety for them.

This is like saying that if you love Hitchcock's PSYCHO you should love Van Sant's PSYCHO. Such an assumption eliminates several key elements of the overall execution (tone, aesthetics, actors, etc) and ultimately makes little to no sense.

Anyway, I'm a big Three Stooges fan (w/ a soft spot for the underrated Shemp), and I can hardly be bothered to click on the link to watch the trailer, not b/c of some fanboy rage thing, I just don't give a shit.

This film appears to be to the original Three Stooges what BRAIN DONORS is to The Marx Brothers.  Pass.

I think Moe and Curly are good, but Larry's all wrong.  He doesn't even have the voice.  Still, I'll probably see this just out of love for the Stooges.  At least, that's what I was thinking until Snooki appeared.  I'll still probably see it.

That was hideous.  Wouldn't the lobster in the pants/singing gag be more of a Curly thing?

They lost me at babies with stooge hair.

The idea of the Stooges randomly and without explanation existing in the modern day with the same accents, same jokes etc. is a very funny idea...  On paper.  I dunno.  The physical humor of the Stooges will ALWAYS make me chuckle.

Over the course of their career, didn't there end up being SIX Stooges?  Larry and Moe were there from start to finish, but the third slot kept changing.  There was Shemp, Curly, Joe, Curly Joe, and I believe even their manager did a few shorts with them as the "third stooge" for awhile.  I wonder if any of this will be referenced?  Probably not.

I still wish Raimi had directed this. It's the film he was born to make.

As a Snooki completist I will be watching this.

It's hard to believe the Farellys had enough cred to get this made.

The physical stuff made me laugh, and even the Snooki bit made me snicker. I'll see it, just because I'm curious. Also the lobster bit made me laugh.

This is the trailer David Berkowitz would watch for instructions, right?

I believe it was when the actually talented actors were attached to the movie. It really does look like it should have came out when those Brady Bunch movies were released. I don't understand who they think will see this movie. I could be wrong, but the Stooges seem like the kind of property that people know exists but have no interest in revisiting except of course with the originals. The only thing I am curious about is how badly it will bomb.

The movie equivalent of a sub par band covering a classic. I recognize the beats I'm not enjoying them at all.

i laughed. I think that was the point. therefore, modest win.

just remember, this won't destroy the originals upon release. they are still there, waiting to be loved.

Yeah the babies with the hair was stupid but overall I kinda liked it. The headache gag was what got me the most.

Big Stooge fan FWIW.

They threw a giant bell off a rooftop onto a nun. That's AT LEAST worth a Redbox rental.

This looks like dogshit on top of dogshit.

I too was always a Marx Brothers fan. I'm going to have to pass.

They started with the babies with Stooge hair and immediately followed up with that horrific dud iPhone joke.  I was fairly amused by the end which is saying a lot based on how shitty that thing started.

This movie would only interest me in its original incarnation. Couple the fact that it looks average at best with the fact that I'm not a Stooges fan and I'm pretty sure I'll pass it up. This movie is only a giant missed opportunity for me.

No.

That is all.

BRADY BUNCH MOVIE bashing will not be tolerated.

Yeah, Brady Bunch Movie is fairly clever and also the first time we got to see the comedic talents of Gary Cole on display. No bashing should be allowed.

As for the Stooges, I'm a lifelong fan. However, I'm going to hold off judgement on this until I see a longer trailer.

Nun jokes always make me laugh. Course, I won't be seeing this in first-run theaters.

We already got a biopic anyway. Which had a pretty appropriate cast.

I can't get over how blasphemous this feels. The stooges weren't just characters, they were characters that were entirely bi-products of the actors (who had the same names!) playing them. That can never be recaptured, so why try?

Did Will Sasso get fat again to play Curly? That is the story I would go with if I were him.

Big Stooge fan.  Just enough there to make me want to see it.

I can never watch season 2 of The Wire without thinking that guy played Moe.

I thought the same thing.  It would be like making a modern day Marx Brothers movie, with different actors in the roles.

As mentioned above, Brain Donors.

The Snookie gag would've worked if Moe had just gone up to the second knuckle.

Never liked the Stooges, even as a kid. I liked humor involving wordplay a lot more. Yeah, I got beat up a lot.

Fuck you all. John Turturro is amazing in Brain Donors. This... Ehhhhh, not so much.

I saw Brain Donors once and thought it was funny. However it was about 20 years ago. That movie was more of an ode to the Marx Brothers than recasting new Marx Brothers. The Harpo of Brain Donors talked for instance.

Turturro is funnier in any ten seconds of The Big Lebowski than Brain Donors' entire running time.

Brain Donors is a Torturro starring role. I'm so pleased that film exists, even if it doesn't work all of the time, its a manic performance.

How did I have no idea this movie existed?  Probably because I wasn't a fan of the Marx Brothers until I was an adult (not enough exposure as a kid).  Do I need to seek it out?  From the responses above, sounds like the answer is no.

No, yes.

I'm going to beat the shit out of all of you.
