Is King's novel at all like The Thing?

There are these aliens, dont remeber the name that can go in your body and stay in there for a while. Then they come out of your ass, I talked about this on the fango thread. Then there is the higher type of alien, this one is called Mr. Gray and he goes inside of Jonesy's body taking over his mind. So it has a small similarity.

Thanks. Those Dreamcatcher ads scream "The Thing", almost as much as The Hunted trailers scream "First Blood".

It's 1982 all over again!

Anybody read the recent test screening review on AICN? Jesus Christ. It suggested some *major* changes to the plot in the second half, none of them for the better. I won't spoil them here, but...holy Christ. I'm not sure what Kasdan was thinking. If the review was legit, my interest level for this movie just dropped again. I mean...I honestly didn't think it would be possible to make the plot of "Dreamcatcher" worse, but apparently Kasdan has done it. Feh.

At the moment, the first 1/5 of the film and the Animatrix short are the only reason I'll be buying a ticket next month...

Perhaps, but the tv trailers say otherwise.

I havent read the book but i have been reading stuff about the book and stepehen kings other books and their connections and the dark tower stuff. is mr gray pennywise?

also it seems to me stephen king has created himself a comic book like shared universe (very cool).

PEACE OUT!

I like how in the tv spots Jonesy is just standing there, his face is all normal, then it cuts to his face smiling maniacally. It looks so funny.

Mr. Grey is NOT Pennywise. Trust me.

I was furious after reading the AICN review. I did not mind having them change his name at all....AS LONG AS THEY KEPT HIM CRAZY!

I have since mellowed a little. I am glad I read this before, if I had not known that and realized near the end he wasn't nuts I would have gone apeshit. Then I would have been kicked out before I witnessed the beauty that is the Animatrix.

I'm looking forward to this flick. I haven't read the book yet, and I don't visit AICN, so I have no idea what to really expect other than it's a "who is really the bad guy, and who is really themself" type of movie. I love those types of flicks, namely "The Thing" and "Puppet Masters" to name but two.

I think it looks pretty damn slick.
