ALEX AJA IS HORNY FOR MAN(DALAY)

The book is indeed great. Correct this oversight.

I really hope this pulls through. Especially because the book doesn't fit in Aja's established style.

All the more reason why I am excited.  Neither of his next two projects fall within his current wheelhouse.

As far as the book, it has already been placed in my "to read" stack for the next couple months.

He's also remaking Scanners for TV.

I'm a fan. High Tension is up there with Sunshine as a nearly great movie completely ruined by the last third. Aja has style for miles, just needs a script to hold up.

1) I'm glad to see him involved with something other than a remake.. I'm just sorry it's not an original tale of his own conception.. though I guess those no longer exist in Hollywood these days

2) Sad to hear he won't be directing PET SEMETARY! It's one of the scariest tales I've ever read, and I thought he'd be a perfect choice to deliver the definitive adaptation

3) MANDALAY PICTURES has a cool tiger logo, and IMHO Aja should make a film about an evil, over sized (15-20 feet long) tiger that eats people, and set it in colonial India. Kipling could appear in a small role

I posted this on Facebook, but I'm not sure if Aja has the heart needed for this project. One of the reasons HORNS works is that it's emotionally grand and sweeping -- the thing is, at its heart, about love -- and Aja's work, from what I've seen, is winking and cynical. That may work for the early stages of the book, but not the later sections. There's a twist involving a letter near the end that needs to make everyone go A BLOO BLOO BLOO.
