The Spike Annual Video Games game-trailer-a-thon

Hey guys, the Spike Video Game Awards are on in a few hours! If you're like me, you will probably be DVR-ing it so you can fast forward to the announcements and trailers. Predicions:  We'll probably get a trailer for the new BioWare game, and maybe learn about yet another boring Assassin's Creed 2 add-on. The odds of a Half Life 3 reveal grow increasingly higher with each passing year, and yet I hope Valve doesn't smear Gordon Freeman's good name by trotting him out on basic cable.

Seriously, though, the BioWare game.

Big Mass Effect 3 trailer.

Planetside 2, as SOE finally starts to dial things up on my most anticipated game of 2012.

Grand Theft Auto V, not sure how much beyond what we've seen but it has to be there.

A new Metal Gear almost has to be there, right?

Maybe a new Metroid?

My prediction I've decided to predict until EA finally gives in and sees the light: a new generation of Road Rash.

Is this event just big enough to unveil a frustratingly ambiguous Halo 4 trailer? I think it is.

I'm hearing an Alan Wake sequel too.

My favorite parts of Alan Wake were the little Night Springs treats. I'm looking forward to that one.

Dead Rising 3 is also a good possibility, since Eurogamer broke the story about it being set in California earlier in the week.

FAR CRY 3?

Unlike last year, that wasn't even worth fast forwarding through, although it was nice to see a Thresher Maw bite a Reaper.

Most of it has been pretty meh so far.

But...

Suppose to be select levels from 1-2. Which is fine by me. Tony hawk hasn't been good in ages so this is a welcome return.

I'd rather see Road Rash. :P

There was a Road Rash planned for this current generation that was not meant to be. Only this pre-visual concept exists.

Besides I don't think you can ever top the 3DO/PC/PS1 version that is so very mid-90s.

Alan Wake firing a semi-automatic? Dammit, I still have to get through the second DLC from the first game yet.

The Last of Us seems interesting, but hopefully it's not going to be generic action survival vs zombies.

If that scene was rendered by the game engine, then it's going to be gorgeous... but it looks like yet another post-apocalyptic survival game a-la Dead Island. The trailer reminded me a lot of the infamous dead girl one.

Speaking of over-the-top drama in game trailers, that Transformers ad was hilarious.

Aye, they should have just had Mad World sung by Grimlock. At least then it would have been fun.

Yeah, here's hoping Naughty Dog can elevate it.  Even though Dead Island was fun.

As for Transformers, I'm surprised it didn't end with Optimus clasping fists with Bumblebee and fading out with "brothers to the end."

All I wanted was a Star Wars Battlefront 3 announcement. Most of these announcements did nothing for me. Was hoping to see more from the Sony side of things, though the Last of Us looks promising and different from anything Naughty Dog has done before. Hoped to have seen stuff from Starhawk and Dust 514.

That being said, Metal Gear Rising looks to be awesome, especially since it's coming from the batshit crazy (in a good way) Platinum Games.

Also, super pumped for Rainbow 6 Patriots. Vegas 2 might be my favorite game this gen, so I can't wait for more RS.

Nobody stoked for Fortnite eh?  Probably my favorite trailer wise.

I was really surprised that Planetside 2 didn't have anything.  Supposedly it was playable and was the talk of the recent Sony Town Hall.  Either it's further away than I thought or else Sony is just boning up marketing.  Again.
