I just saw BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR

I joined Brian Yuzna at a screening held in at the American Film Market in Los Angeles today. I will not spoil anything but when you see the movie make sure you see the UNRATED version. It has the right mixture of horror and campy lines. And Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) has quite a few memorable lines. Lionsgate Films has the U.S. rights and should release it soon.

I read some reviews at AICN by some other people at this screening. Everybody loved it

Just this weekend marked my first time viewing the original Re-animator, via the superb Elite 2-disk SE that I bought blind based on a neverending stream of fanboy gushing. Absolutely great, and fucking Combs was *amazing* as the Herbert West I'd always pictured after reading the story. Now I really want to see Bride of, and after seeing the Beyond trailer... can't wait.

Fuckin' AFM...Goddamn it. I'm really releived there's been so much positive buzz on it today, let's just hope it keeps up.

I SO hope it'll live up to my expectations. I really think this movie's gonna make all my cinematic dreams come true..

Feels like I've been waiting for it half my life

... and I like Jeffrey Combs more than life itself.

Try looking like him for a day and see how much you like him then... wink

P.S.
Can't wait to see this freaking movie. I tried to find legit ways of getting into the AFM screening to no avail. Plus it was at 11AM, right in the middle of my shift at the dayjob...

Ya know Inspectah, I never made the connection, I do see it though.

And God damn that photo has got to be one of the funniest CHUD/Creature Corner group pics ever, Johnny looks so lost, and Ryan makes me snort, heh...everyone looks like they're getting ready to do something bad (which we were, don't get me wrong)

One person did sneak in and got an autograph from Brian. I had dinner with Brian last night and he is trying to have a screening in LA for some lucky fans. I'll keep you posted if anything does happen. He is only in town until Saturday so I wouldn't hold my breath. Right now Brian and I are trying to convince Lionsgate to take it out theatrically in select cities.

Netzombie, keep me posted!

P.S.--Do we know each other?

I'm of the opinion that the only way to get Butane to sit still long enough to get a picture of him that isn't blurred is to get Creetch involved.
That said, I forgot...who are the other 3 in the pic?

This will probably get my horror fan membership card revoked, but I've still never seen Bride of the Re-Animator, even though I love the first film. None of the video stores in town carry "Bride", and I don't like buying movies sight-unseen off the internet.

Opinions? Is it a worthy sequel? Worth the cash?

Advice appreciated.

You! Out! OUT I say!

(Actually, it's been so long since I've seen it, all I can say is that A) It has the infamous head scene & B) The film quality and production values are higher. I seem to remember liking it more.)

From left to right:

The Inspector, Tindalos, Ryan, Me & Johnny in the center, and the illustrious HAM

As for Bride of Re-Animator, pick it up sight unseen, it's just as fun.

Re-Animator is superior but Bride is a nice extension of the Herbert West saga, the return of David Gale and Bruce Abbott is great and the gore is super fun.

That's not actually me... However, Inspectah (when did he go gangsta?) did have that remarkable growth removed from his heed! Why he would want to have that beauty removed is way beyond my twisted mind to comprehend.

As for 'Beyond Re-Animator'... I reserve any sort of judgement. However the trailer (well one of em anyway) is kickin!

I have yet to see the original Re-Animator.
