Willard or Can someone tell me...

...why this movie is promoted that much ? It´s about a freaky boy who teaches rats to attack people. It´s absolutely ridicilous, isn´t it ? It sounds as stupid as the synopsis of Komodo or Octupus 2.

Please, someone convince me why this won´t be a bad movie.

Have you seen the original? Its fucking classic! Add some better rat effects and Cripin Glover and how could you lose?!

I will be there first day.

OT, but anyway, I was listening to the White Stripes album White Blood Cells, and had to answer the phone as I was loading Chud, and after getting off the phone Jack White was singing "Oh I think I smell a rat, oh I think I smell a rat" just as I turned to look at the pop-up on the front page for Willard. It made me chuckle.

Crispin Glover doesn't exactly strike fear into my heart. Film looks vaguely interesting.

Charlies Angels was actually a fun flick...... but he was an exceptional bad guy!

It won't break any records.....but with the last teen wave of "horror" this will be a welcome treat

DON'T DIS THE GLOVER, y0!

And it has R. Lee Ermey. But the trailer basically gave away his fate.

jes

but he is the lead "Mean guy" so you know he has to buy it first

but who else will feel the NIBBLES OF DEATH?!?!?!

I hope Louie Anderson is one of the villains. No wait, scratch that. The rats would take up the whole movie eating just his arm.

I have to agree with Meyers, this looks like straight-to-video fare. I'll have to wait for the reviews.

I loved the trailer when I saw it in the theater. Big, nasty, and more than a little cheesy.

Tonight I saw a TV ad that had a schmaltzy love song playing in contrast to the images of stampeding rats. I listened a little closer... the song was "Ben!" I'm pretty sure it was someone new doing the singing, not good old M.J.

I'll give you two reasons why Willard will undoubtedly rock - Glen Morgan and James Wong. These are the two guys who put X-Files on the map years ago (and notice how seriously fucking downhill the show went after they left - Chris Carter was NOT the creative genius some made him out to be) and unleashed serious horror coolness with FINAL DESTINATION.

They were also responsible for the cult classic show Space: Above and Beyond and the only good season of Millennium (that'd be the second one).

They're genre vets who know more about storytelling and atmosphere than most folks out there.

Can't wait for WILLARD.

And yes, I know that M and W also helmed THE ONE, but that was a product of studio butchering, and they were intensely unhappy with it.]

And by the way, MOST synopses of genre films sound ridiculous in their inception --it's the execution and craft that makes the difference. Look at THE RING -- you'll get incredulous looks from people if you say "It's about a videotape tha can kill you!" Actually seeing the film is an altogether different matter.

Saw the press screening last night in L.A., though not as press. Not sure when I can throw my two cents out there.

I'll say this much: Crispin Glover is great.

I take back what I said about Crispin Glover. His eyes are fucking SCARY.

Staring down from the top of CHUD like that.

I'm just impressed that a "B" movie starring a relatively unknown (except to sewer chewers like us) character actor is getting this kind of exposure at all! I mean, let's face it - if this flick was given the minimum push most of these flicks get, it would be lucky to fill half of the seats on opening day - other than true fans, who would bother?

But with a push like this, this little gem just might be a hit at the box-office, instead of becoming a cult classic on DVD...

I am really looking forward to this film. I never had any interest until I started seeing the great trailers and TV spots. I then remembered that I liked the original. Crispin Glover is a great actor and I am really surprised that he got the lead in this film.
