$30 is fairly high. I'd wait to see what Anchor Bay does in the next few months. I'm anticipating a commentary track and some other good features.

On ebay and amazon you'll see this title for $80 and up. Some knucklehead had it listed for $200+.

HAH! There's a used one on there today for $500.

if this is going for these insane prices, you better pick that crap up dude! Ebay it off, you can buy a hundred of those 3 disc sets when they're released.

OK, the deal is done. I just bought it. I figured 30 bucks isnt TOO bad...for I have seen the psychotic prices on ebay as well.

Besides, Ive wanted to own this gem for so long, I just could not wait for the AB release.

Thanks for the responses though!

Which version did you buy? The US theatrical version isn't as good as the director's cut, in my opinion.

It says "Unrated Version" on the box and the tape itself so Im assuming its the Directors Cut?
There's several different cuts of this movie, it's all very complicated.

Dawn of the Dead Theatrical Cut
Dawn of the Dead Director's Cut
Dawn of the Dead Cannes Cut
Dawn of the Dead Argento Cut
Dawn of the Dead Spliced together "definitive" German cut
Tartar Control Dawn of the Dead

etcetcetc.

(w)Anchor Bay will sort it all out soon enough...

As for the 2 Anchor Bay releases, I like the Theatrical Cut better ... The film itself looks better, flows nice, and the Director's Cut is a flipper ( you must turn the disc over halfway thru ) ...
A flipper disc offers a good bathroom break. If only more movies were as thoughtful. The US theatrical cut has less gore also, which is kinda the fun part of the whole thing. I'd like to see the loooong German cut. Personally, I wouldn't gripe at a four-hour DOTD.
Billz, I didn't realize that some gore was cut for the Theatrical Version ... I just thought it was some extended stuff like when Flyboy was alone in the boiler room, fumbling for bullets and such ....

also . . .

I can recall reading that an alternate ending was planned / written and / or filmed in which Ken Foree and Gaylen Ross both commit suicide ... Anyone know if this end was filmed ???
Yeah, the theatrical cut is rated R, and the director's cut is unrated because it contained a few more zombie splatter moments and such. I haven't watched both versions in a while, so the exact scenes escape me.

I also heard about this supposed alternate ending, but I'm not sure if it was ever filmed. <a href="http://www.homepageofthedead.com/" target="_blank">Homepage of the Dead</a> has a complete script which includes the suicides of Fran and Peter. Check it out, but it may be someone's fantasy script.

There's some weird shit about this. Ken Foree's death wasn't suicide, but he turned and walked into the chopper blades. Seeing this, Ross commits suicide. Tom Savini swears Foree getting his head lopped off was actually filmed while Romero says that it never was. I'm sure I've got some of this wrong and somebody asked Foree at one point, but I'm not sure.

In the script Ken (Peter) does shoot himself with the high-powered rifle, and then Ross (Fran) sticks her head into the chopper blade. If this footage exists I'll shit a biscuit.

Definitely wait it out for the new set from Anchor Bay.
