Warren Ellis on this comic.

I am a big fan of what I read of Brandon Graham's King City. Can't wait to pickup the collection in February.

So anyone reading this?

Had no fucking idea. Will definitely check this out. Thanks for the heads up!

If you like the art, I would also suggest Jonathan Hickman's The Red Wing. Similar style art. Great story. Makes me wish Fraction, Hickman, and Aaron would leave Marvel and go start their own creator imprint and just do those books.

Image Part Deux maybe?

I've added this and Glory to my pull list today. Never thought I'd be buying either of these books!

I reviewed it for Thor's this week. It's really good! The short version: It's Les Humanoides meet Jack London.

The one I'm REALLY jazzed for is the return of Supreme, with the final two Alan Moore-scripted issues apparently coming out with art by Erik Larsen, and then he's going to take over scripting and writing duties.

I've...actually never read an Erik Larsen comic. No one is Alan Moore, but is he at least good enough that he won't embarass himself?

No he's going to embarrass himself, probably very badly. I love Savage Dragon but it's about as low brow as you can get. The guys skills as a writer are pretty low, I always chuckled when he had exposition pages where all the action stopped so someone could just explain everything that was going on.

Remembver this is the same Erik Larsen who (under a pseudonym) wrote the appalling open letter published in Wizard to publishers that said comic writers were all hacks and artists should write their own books because they can't be any worse. A month later Image launched and ushered in all things eXtreme.

But hey, I suppose he might surprise, following in the bushy shadow of Moore though... Odds aren't good.

To be fair, that's Erik Larsen from 20 years ago you're talking about. That said, the guy's put his foot in his mouth on a couple of occasions lately. I obviously should stop talking about it, since I don't have any experience with the guy.

ETA: I have dug up a few quotes from Larsen and they're a tad worrying. He says he wants to bring back the elements of the comic from before Alan Moore took over, which...no. He even sounds slightly contemptuous of Moore's run, saying it was just a riff on Silver Age comics he liked...I'm sure that's not what he meant, but yeah, that's kind of alarming. I swear it's like no one in the comics industry can distinguish between what's good and what's bad.
