HERE’S A POSTER OF THE HUNGER GAMES

After TWILIGHT, and with my perceptions of what I take to be the state of young adult lit, my guard is up when it comes to this project. The ads which all seemed to keep everyone not already familiar with the books at arms length do the movie no favors, no do the hushed, reverent
 tones the cast and crew use when speaking of the original novel, as if it were MOBY DICK or something

It looks crummy and dumb, and this poster is embarrassing. I'm sorry, but I've yet to see a single image that convinces me this movie is anything worth my time

For the MILLIONTH FUCKING TIME, The Hunger Games is NOTHING like Twilight.

I'll watch this. But i don't quite dig the First Person perspective that the book take. Still, i liked Jennifer Lawrence in the Trailer and am curious on how they'll pull off the BATTLE ROYALE concept here.

Finishing up the third book now and quite enjoyed this series. Something that's fascinating about the books is gods and religion are never mentioned. The idea of idols is played around with, with The Capitol demanding worship and Katniss as the Mockingjay becoming a savior figure, but none of it is ever given supernatural attribute. 

Very humanist perspective, and an obvious emphasis on the flesh. There's a constant fascination, obviously, with food and hunger, and on the human body being treated like so much meat (not just the Tributes' deaths in the arena, but the Capitol people tattooing and decorating themselves).

These little details elevate The Hunger Games above something like Twilight.

I'm curious to see how the action sequences are handled.  I found some of the action beats in the first book to be somewhat clunky, especially the awkward sci-fi involved with
