"Ah, forget it, boyo. You're as like to have angels fly out your arse as get next to the likes of her!"

Ahhh, the Irish guy.

The Oirish guy.

"And, by the way, everyone's after me Lucky Charms!"

I disagree slightly, though, on who's worse.  Danny Nucci is nails-chalkboard bad, but then I hate him in everything anyway.

But he can see the Statue of Liberty already!

It's very small, of course...

I cheered when Nucci's character was crushed by the smokestack. Worst. Accent. Ever.

I'm surprised that Nucci didn't bust out with a "Hey, it's-a-me! Mario! That ice-a-berg is-a-one-a spicy meatball!" at some point.

I'm surprised more people don't make a connection between Titanic and Twilight. Obviously being a man I can't say this with any authority, but I get the impression they both unashamedly tap into a certain kind of angst and idealistic fantasy that I suspect a lot of teenage girls feel and that most women can relate to. Cheesy as it might seem, pure melodrama still really connects when done right.

Cameron should have totally had an Oldboy style side-scrolling sequence where Nucci has to do a series of ever more complicated jumps over various pits on his way to the lifeboats.

Then he totally fucks up at the last part and gets killed by the swinging fire pendulum.

Twilight really isn't done "right", though.  Say what you will about Cameron's brand of melodrama, but he's infinitely more skillful at it and Jack is no Edward Cullen.  Even I, as a semi-jaded guy, can find a lot to like about Titanic that doesn't restrict it to being simply a teen/young adult niche, and I think a majority of its audience reflects that observation.

It's 'done right' in the sense that it connects with its intended audience. I was a teenager when Titanic came out and distinctly remember it getting the same kind of contempt from teenage boys and the teenage-boy-at-heart that Twilight does now. Only difference is Titanic had a load of action and spectacle that made them want to watch it as well.

Can we not bring Twilight into this? Please?

As far as action goes, Twilight has it technically, but it's utterly boring in execution.
