Love that he's basically reprising his whole, "Anton Chigurh-limping-away-from-the-exploding-drug-store" stagger in that one shot.

Can't believe November's right around the corner already.

I actually was talking about the brief shot we see of him firing a gun, his face bloodied. The previous trailer kept him hidden with the silhouette shot you mention.

Ha ha!  Thank you.   To me, that's the money shot of the trailer.   I don't know how good the movie will be but at least it will look really really good.

The cufflinks bit is classic Bond.

More than that, it's QUINTESSENTIAL Bond.

The new Skyfall trailer was incredible. It looks like this is going to be one of the very best Bond films we've ever gotten. If I had one complaint about the trailer, it would be the over dramatic music/choral beats during the introduction of Bardem. Bardem's character was creepy but it didn't match that music. A washed out soundtrack or silence would have been a better fit for his introduction. The super dramatic "Duh-dun!" every time he said something made him seem a bit goofy.

Still though, this looks like the Bond I've always seen in my head but never though would become a reality. Craig's delivery of "Bond, James Bond" in the International trailer was just one of the coolest things I've seen in ages. My favorite line however would be "everyone needs a hobby". The contempt and ill humor with which he said it just summed up the character perfectly.

I could go on listing moments I loved, but what I'd wind up with would simply be a shot list for the entire trailer, so instead I'll just say that the moment where Bond said he'd been enjoying death, and we see him in some bar taking a shot and trapping a scorpion under the glass, felt just perfect. It really is Flemming's Bond, at long last.

This must also be the first Bond to have an "acclaimed" director coming into direct. Sure there have been good directors but no Oscar winners unless I'm misremembering.

Am I the only one who thinks Ralph Fiennes is a double agent and he is the one who turned over the agent list?

God,  I sure as hell hope that's not the case. That sounds like the standard for every freakin season of 24!! And that show was laughable by the end.

Fiennes is the new M, I believe, after Dench is retired for her role in the Skyfall debacle.

I've heard otherwise... Won't spoil anything, but I do wish that Fiennes becomes the new M instead.

I am not a fan of the cufflink-adjusting bit. It reminds me of these senseless moments in the Brosnan-era Bonds where they put scenes like this in to fulfill The Formula and don't care if they really work in the scene or take you out of the film. An example: The scene in The Spy who Loved Me where Bond puts the "out of order"-sign on the dead guy is equally silly (Bond is wasting time while he should chase the killer), but it's a moment that comes out of the situation and it characterizes Bond as a cold and sarcastic man. Works better for me. To me the cufflink adjusting feels off. Sorry, can't explain it better. But otherwise the trailer looks great, which is no surprise when Deakins is the DOP.

I would agree if I felt he was really adjusting his cufflinks, but I think he had a giant stunt and had just crashed down into that train car, and he was adjusting his tight fitting suit to give him the range of movement he needed to continue pursuit.

They just released some new posters in the UK that show all the characters in great detail (Silva included).

Bet a large chunk of money he heard Fiennes is really the bad guy, in which case his I'm-not-spoiling-anything post was quite the spoiler.

Whatever the outcome, I'm ready for a change of leadership after seven films with Judi Dench as M.

Might as well make use of the spoiler function. YOU'VE ALL BEEN WARNED.

Right. From what I've read he's in cahoots with Silva.

As for who M will be, gathering from the production videos (which inadvertently gave away some bits about production design) the final scene will take place in an office, and from the looks of it it will resemble M's office from the 1962-1989 films, presumably with the new M and Moneypenny ( who both might be uncredited for the sake of surprising Bond fans). This fits in with Mendes' comments about how SKYFALL would take place right before DR. NO in a sense, ending with Bond getting his new assignment by the new M in the classic office. Hence the "Bond with a capital B comments" and such

Daniel Craig will do two more Bond films before bowing out: http://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/articles/craig_five_bond_movies_deal.php3

If EON does indeed go with the every other year method, that means Craig's final film could be released in 2016, on the 10th anniversary of his debut in CASINO ROYALE.

I'm with this man. It reminded me of Brosnan adjusting his tie underwater during the boat chase in TWINE. Connery's fastidiousness was more underplayed. Contrast that trailer shot with the sequence in the bar just before and after he blows up the heroin factory in Goldfinger.

ETA but that doesn't mean I think the film is going to be crap, just that the ghosts of Moore and Brosnan haven't been fully exorcised.

Amazing! This is a best case scenario. Connery redux!

And hopefully a poorly aged and fat Craig will return in another one when the next Bond flakes out after one entry.

I'd be amazed if EON agreed to that accelerated schedule.

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as there's no writers strike or a Marc Forster turning down scripts left and right.

Anyway, the film will be 2 hours and 25 mins, roughly the same length as CASINO ROYALE: http://www.mi6-hq.com/news/index.php?itemid=10394

And it will also be the 25th entry in the franchise, allowing him to bow out on a series milestone.

Why not?  They've never had a problem previously.  That said, I wouldn't be too surprised if there ends up being a three-year gap between one of the installments....if no other reason than to keep Craig happy.  Besides, Sony will want space for him to do the other two Girl With The Dragon Tattoo films.

With (likely) three X-Men films under his belt and God knows what else?  Nope, he'll be far too high-profile.  Sorry folks, but I've got to be the killjoy on this one.  Michael Fassbender will never be James Bond.

Roger Deakins talking about shooting with the ARRI ALEXA camera and SKYFALL.

A new US domestic one-sheet poster has just been released...

That's really shitty.

Did they really just reuse the display that has been standing in theater lobbies for the past several weeks?

Not the best, but not bad. Yes it's a recycled image, but it looks fine as a poster too.

Terrible poster. It looks like an advertisement for the Ukraine's 3rd best-selling vodka.

Sorry not digging the poster at all..... looks totally fan made...

I was scrolling down and thinking, "Hmm, interesting, I like the minimalist style" and then I got to the bottom and...holy shit. That literally looks like an intern spent five minutes photoshopping something for them.

Why have movie posters gotten so halfassed and shitty? We're a more visually based culture than ever, yet basically every era has it over us for movie posters, magazine covers, advertisements...

It has GOT to be the same design team.

Not too impressed with the posters for this so far, but then again I never was for Quantum of Solace either.  Going low key worked for Casino Royale, but just doesn't see to be clicking with Craig's other films.  Or maybe I'm just crazy.

Indeed, but it still wasn't good.

Just wanted to join the dog-pile on the SKYFALL poster. What a weird, un-Bondian image. I don't know what the hell's happened to promotional design since the one-sheets for CASINO ROYALE-- particularly the teaser one:

I've had the theatrical one-sheet of that for years now, rolled up in a tube. I'm finally buying a house next month and am much looking forward to hanging in up in my study/man-cave/007 shrine.

I actually quite liked most of the Quantum of Solace posters. This latest one is definitely not great though.

New plot synopsis: "When Bond’s latest assignment goes gravely wrong and agents around the world are exposed, MI6 is attacked forcing M to relocate the agency. These events cause her authority and position to be challenged by Mallory (RALPH FIENNES), the new Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee. With MI6 now compromised from both inside and out, M is left with one ally she can trust: Bond. 007 takes to the shadows – aided only by field agent, Eve (NAOMIE HARRIS) – following a trail to the mysterious Silva (JAVIER BARDEM), whose lethal and hidden motives have yet to reveal themselves."

Couple of thoughts on this:

One: Someday we're gonna break the current cycle and have a spy movie that doesn't involve the main character going rogue, or operating without sanction, or having "a stop put on his passport" (seriously, M--?), or having his license to kill revoked... Does anyone else remember when 007 would just accept his mission from M, carry it out with aplomb, and nail some chick right as the end credits rolled?

Two: I think I'm more convinced than ever that we'll be saying goodbye to Dame Judy in SKYFALL, and that we'll have Ralph's Mallory as the new M from here on out. That synopsis is clearly setting us up to believe that Mallory is the villain's inside man... But it's a double-blind, people!

I agree that this one will probably be Dench's swan song.  As for not having to operate as a rogue?  Given the hints that have been dropped from various sources, it looks like Bond will 100% be back to the way things were in the Connery/Moore era at the end of this...........with a "classic" M and Miss Moneypenny completely in place.  Basically, Craig's 4th and 5th adventures should, at least structurally, fall within the classic mode for the most part.  And I have absolutely no problem with that, as long as they continue to do interesting things with the stories and characters themselves.

Excellent. A return to form would be most welcome at this point.

And congrats, Daniel, on the new domicile. This whole process has been a total bastard for me. But it will all be worth it when I can stand up my "From Russia With Love"-issue Sean Connery action figure next to my Dwight Eisenhower G.I. Joe in my personal study, and not have my wife bitch about it...

Okay-- Possibly there's something wrong with me.
