Nick found 2011 to be a decent year, and here are his favorites.

Great list Nick.   Although I wish there was some room for Melancholia on there.

Nice list, Nick. It reminds me of how much good stuff there's been this year, and how much I haven't had the chance to see yet. My New Year's resolution: get my cinemagoing habits back up to scratch.

I'm with you on all counts there mate.

I like it.

Hunt down a copy of The Guard though Nick. There are laughs a-plenty in that gem of a comedy.

This is a really good list.  I appreciate Nick's wide-ranging tastes.  A lot of what would be my top ten are on this.

I can't disagree with any of the films on this (that I've watched so far) so this looks pretty good. Moneyball is a bit high but it's an otherwise very good movie. And yeah, if it got the backing it deserved it would have been a classic. Its direction was its biggest downside.

I seriously need to see Tinker, Tailor this week.

Be honest... The Ward would make yours.

I've seen one film on Nick's list, Tin Tin. In my defense, I did work 366 hours of overtime this year.

Then again, I did find time to see Resident Evil: Afterlife, and Conan, so I really have no excuse.

Nick you have some interesting choices on your list, although many of the top films I've yet to see

I look forward to checking 'em out when I get the chance! I'd say I'd make my own list to compare, but my big problem is I can never remember what movies I've seen in a given year. The timeline of my life all just blurs together into a big smudge

My Netflix queue just got a whole lot fatter. Thanks!

Definitely looking for a few of these films on Netflix.  I've already seen a couple of others; notably, 13 Assassins.   While I love the range of films on all of the lists here on CHUD, I will say that the ONLY differing viewpoint I have is that 13 Assassins would be number one.  My boyfriend got me the blu-ray this past Christmas since he knows how much I love this movie.  It's really the only one this past year that stayed with me long after that first viewing.

And as I watched it again last night, what really hit me was how incredibly well crafted that final 50-minutes is.  It never loses one bit of steam.  So well edited.  And all the scenes prior to those 50-minutes give it so much weight.  What. A. Movie.

It pleases me that people are picking up on 13 ASSASSINS. That is definitely the least talked about great movie of 2011, as far as the larger film critic sphere is concerned.

Well if it weren't for CHUD, this film would never have been on my radar.  Thank you for that and yes, this film NEEDS a larger audience.

I really need to get off my ass and watch that movie.
