Please find those pictures and post them on the Internet.

I wish I could.  We took a photo and mounted it into the center of a yellow bat symbol to hang in the front window of my mother's hair salon advertising that they would do the cut.  It was a pretty big thing that summer.

I recall that photo and construction paper yellow bat symbol being in a book shelf cabinet at my parents house but cannot for the life of me figure out what happened to it when I moved out.  Knowing me I can't believe I don't have it matted and hanging in the hallway.

*EDIT*  But more to the point of the thread I feel, when someone says something wrong about their expectations of me and something I can do I will occasionally say, "That's one down, Kitty Carlisle." from Hudson Hawk.

into the back of my head in the summer of '89.  Dyed it black and yellow.  Had a mullet at the time as well.  Went to Six Flags and must be in the family vacation photos of at least a dozen fellow park goers.  Those are just the ones who stopped me to have the back of my head pose with them.

For many many years, whenever I had to pick something up or grab hold of something I did it with two fingers only. Thanks, E.T.

Also, when  I was ten I practiced walking around with one eye clenched shut. Thanks, Popeye.

Thanks to STAR WARS, I've been trying to move stuff with my mind ever since I was 9 or 10 or so "if I just don't over think it, it will really work this time!"

EDIT: specifically I try to snatch stuff into my hand, like Luke in the wampa cave

I'm sure it's a cliche by now but Fight Club was the movie that broke my mind and changed my perspective on life. I walked out of the cinema a stumbling, drooling wreck.

It's the movie that broke me away from my parents thinking. I didn't buy into the Durden philosophy completely and if you did I think you missed the point of the film (such as adopting the ideals of a schizophrenic is probably a bad idea), but it made me think and it made my angsty teenage brain think and that was a big leap.

Nihilism and anarchy became more than fashion, consumerism flipped over and showed how rotting it was on the other side... okay maybe I bought into it a little too much.

But my mother in law bought me a pair of khaki pants that I HAVE NEVER WORN!

I can't remember where I saw it (probably Face/Off), but for a while I used to put on jackets with a single move by holding it backwards and then twisting it over my head and shooting both arms into their respective sleeves.

DADDY COOL.

Ha! I still do this and i have the trapped nerve in my shoulder to prove it.

Thanks to Doc Hollywood I can only put petrol in my car with one hand in my pocket.

The sad thing is after reading MJF's autobiography I now know why he did that, however it's such a habit now I can't stop.

A short list of my mannerisms that come from movies:

  • I squint and do the tight-lipped smile that Clint does when ridding the horse & cart with Tucco in TGTB&TU whenever it's windy, even in the slightest breeze. I constantly look like I'm trying not to shit myself.
  • I do Han's Whoops/Bugger/Damn face from ROTJ when he thinks he's hardwired the bunker door and another closes, whenever I make a mistake or even if I disagree with a private thought in my head.
  • Whenever I fall over, I do Marty's half stand/crouch from rolling down the Lone Pine Mall's hill at the end of BTTF because when I was 11 I thought he looked so cool. However, the opportunity to do this doesn't arise much as I don't fall over often.

Mine is more general.

You know how people sing or hum around the house? Well apparently I shout out lines from films. I barely know I'm doing it.

I was making a lasagne last night and the wife shouted 'eh?' from the front room. Apparently I had shouted "This is where we fight! This is where they die!" as I was cuttin onions.

Because of "We Bought a Zoo",  I've been arrested for streaking.   20 seconds of insane courage is a long ass time.

Every time I go through the automatic doors at the supermarket I wave my hand...and imagine that opened the door.

But everyone does that? Right?

I'm sure everyone has done that before!

Oh... because of Jackie Chan movies, I used to wait till the last moment to slip through a closing door while making a Jackie-Chan face!  SMOOOOTH!

I gave him one for ya!

I still try the Jedi mind trick...has it worked, nope.

Also because of Star Wars, I tend to use the line, "Hey, its me" whenever I can.

Majority of my quotes are form Star Wars..I'm proud of it.

I also like to do the Jedi wave every time I approach an automatic door. I can't prove that I moved the door with my mind, but you can't prove I didn't.

Not a movie, but The Simpsons has had a TREMENDOUS impact on my sensibilities.  How else to explain the tears I was holding back while reading this comic?

I posted this on Facebook which resulted in several Chewers and me exchanging Simpsons lines for over 300 comments.

That's because you're a popular motherfucker.

Take a look at this... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462538/board/nest/105147183 for the last four years that thread has been nothing but "Dental Plan!" "Lisa Needs Braces".

On reflection, 381 comments over four years isn't that impressive after yours.

ETA and that comic got to me more than I thought it would

Nah, I'm not popular.  It's just the perfect storm of Simpons love and chatty Chewers!  The thing just kept going without me while I was away from the computer.

My best friend in fifth grade was also obsessed with Star Wars and we did lines at each other constantly.  I still do a lot of movie dialog with people, Silence of the Lambs and Jaws with my sister; Christine with two other people, including Ryan Rotten (formerly of Creature Corner on CHUD); and I still do the Kinderman/Karras exchange from The Exorcist almost every time I talk to a friend from college, the one that starts with "I get tickets" and ends with "You wanna know who I think did it?  The Dominicans, go pick on them."  It's fun and weirdly satisfying to do lines with other people who know the same movies.

In middle school, I would choke my brother at random times, and in hindsight I realize that was completely The Simpsons fault.

I still go "d'oh!" and do that nervous shirt-collar adjusting thing with the noise.

Regardless of where I (and my dad for that matter), whenever I make a fire, I will always, without fail, cry out 'I...have made fire!' from Cast Away. Sometimes I dance.

John Belushi's Blut does it in Animal House. I apologize if I am the fourth person to post this 'news'.

I DO THIS TOO.  My wife makes fun of me for it.

I watched Good Morning Vietnam when I was around 13. I was a huge Robin Williams fan. That movie had great music and got me interested in the Beach Boys and other songs from the 60s/70s. After watching the movie I started buying tapes and CDs of hits from that era.

As a teen growing up in the 80s and early 90s, I was listening to music my parents grew up with. My taste still remains the same, barely 5% of the songs in my ipod are from the 80s onwards.

Anyone remembers the TV show MAN FROM ATLANTIS? After watching it I used to do the weird dolphin swimming style in the pool, and hey I can still do it now!

Patrick Duffy!  I did this too and wished for webbed hands and feet.

"That's some fucked up shit, right there."

[Seriously though, I remember the "Summer of '89". For 3 months, Batman was The Beatles. Shit like that just made sense]

Anytime a beautiful, sensuous, emotional love-making scene begins, in my mind I see a rapid cut to MacGruber humping away like crazy on that graveyard. It's really funny, but obviously kills any mood.

Now, it's worse when you actually do have an intimate moment with a woman and break out in laughter for remembering said scene in that very moment.

I'll never think of the song Broken Wings the same way after watching MacGruber.
