I saw them at the Staples Center tonight. Great show! Dropping Pretty Woman from the set wouldn't hurt my feelings and Dave's little spiel about herding dogs was very Dave but it could also afford to be scrapped. Whatever speculation there is about why they postponed all the dates after June didn't affect anyone's spirits tonight. There wasn't an empty seat in the arena and the band and the crowd had great energy. The set was pretty much the standard one, I was hoping for a rarity but no dice. Still well worth it. Eddie killed it on his solo.
It was an interesting day. I got to experience two remnants of my childhood in the 21st century, a (sort of) new Ridley Scott Alien film and a (sort of) reformed Van Halen touring behind a new album. I'm glad one of them delivered.
And Kool and The Gang proved to be a great opener as well. The crowd really got into their set.
