The Henry Silva Appreciation Thread

Because one is needed, goddammit.

Just noticed Johnny Cool is on Netflix Instant. One of his few starring roles. See it, man.

Love him in everything, but special love for Ghost Dog:

The bit where Cliff Gorman does his Flavor Flav bit and Henry just goes "I don't know anything about that" — cracks my shit up. Every. Time.

He's great in everything, but he'll always be Zagon from ABOVE THE LAW to me.

Who the fuck is this cherry?

"Jack the Ripper was the Loch Ness Monster...Bullshit? Or not?"

Kane in Buck Rogers

Bad guy to Chuck Norris, Stephen Segal, and Burt Reynolds

I just watched Johnny Cool about a month or so ago and really liked it. Surprisingly violent for it's time and Elizabeth Montgomery was really hot in those days...

Henry Silva is the man.

I saw The Silent Invasion on tv yesterday and looked him up on IMDB to see what else he's been up to. He's in his 80's now and doing mostly voice work and did the voice of BANE in the Batman animated shows.

I came in here to mention Bullshit or Not, but I also recently saw him on an old episode of The Outer Limits , co-starring with Ralph Meeker:

Very few actors I can think of can say a line like that and look like they not only mean it, but would actually take genuine sadistic pleasure in doing it. Love his Italian stuff, Alligator, Amazon Women on the Moon, Ghost Dog, etc but for me he is simply one of the best B movie baddies of all time, along with William Smith, Michael Ironside, and a few others. Zagon in ATL is a great example of his talents in this area but for another, see Sharky's Machine where his character is constantly high and loves to scream just before he destroys you (go to 14m in):

One of his I've not seen and needs to be on DVD is the Men on a Mission flick Probability Zero (written by Dario Argento).

I'm guy #3 who came here to mention "Bullshit Or Not?" so instead I'll mention the epic Manchurian Candidate fight between Sinatra & Silva. Sinatra broke his hand doing that karate chop. The fight rivals FRWL with it's brutality.

Don't forget his epic teamup with Abe Vigoda, Alex Rocco, and Michael V. Gazzo in The Cannonball Run 2. biggrin.gif
