Arnold peeks back into a project he left over for Stallone.

Stallone and Schwarzenegger in the same film, and that's the best director they can come up with?!!? Bullshit! Give Walter Hill the job.

I always get excited for projects like these until I find out who's directing and realize Stallone and Schwarzenegger's shitty quality control.

Antoine Fuqua was supposed to do this, and now Mikael Hafstrom? Not exactly dudes who know how badass a project like this can be. Was Hafstrom's last movie even released? Did "Shanghai" happen, or did I just dream it?

It did happen and I think it's still sitting on a shelf somewhere.  Can't remember if it is a Weinstein or MGM film, but either way bankruptcy problems have held up its release.  Or maybe it was dumped on home video finally?  I'm too lazy to look it up.  Anyway, The Rite was his last film.

Personally, I've been hoping all along that Sly decides to bring Walter Hill on board this one as well............or at least pulls another director out of "jail" like McTiernan or Harlin or Davis.

That said, bring it on!  There's no reason they SHOULDN'T do this together.  Besides, Arnie will have released two solo films between Sly collaborations (The Last Stand, Black Sands), so it isn't a back-to-back issue.  The fact that Arnold is considering this makes it seem like he and Megan Ellison might be waiting for Justin Lin to be available for Terminator 5 after all.  His two new solo films will both hit in 2013, so this will likely be a 2014 release if he does it.  Lin will (in theory) be available to shoot Terminator 5 for a late 2014 release (though Summer 2015 is probably more likely), assuming the Fast two-parter starts shooting by the end of this year and that the T5 script is ready by then.

Either way, it's fun to see both Sly and Arnold poised to officially be back in a big way.............doubly so with them working together.  Sly basically is already, barring Bullet To The Head and Expendables 2 not doing well (unlikely, especially on the latter), but this will just further cement things.
