Great episode.  Particularly loved the wide eyed, singing prostitute.

Agreed. They should've figured out a way to use something in the environment, like a hanging tarp or something, then framed and shot it in a way to make it look something like a cape. As it was, it was just too on-the-nose.

I agree the cape thing seemed like it was missing a set-up, but for God's sake someone get me a .gif of Liz's crazy-eyes when she first goes full Joker in the dressing room.

I dunno, I think we've become conditioned to expect that sort of PERFECTLY REASONABLE explanation to be part of the joke. I like that the cape was a non-sequitur.

I didn't catch it the first time, but he doesn't just have a skateboard to look young, he has TWO skateboards!

Not fair, 30 Rock. You can't remind me of my dream casting of Alec Baldwin as Bruce Wayne like that and expect me to laugh!

And as for JokerLiz, I have this fun fact for you. This is what old Greek women actually look like. To the point I actually let a knowing "Yup, that's right" when they first showed her.

GLENGARRY-era Baldwin would have been a phenomenal Batman. Oh well, he'll always have THE SHADOW.

Buscemi's brief scene was the highlight of this episode for me.

“Howdy do, fellow kids.” "What?"

"I'm not embarased, I get all mo outfts at Ann Taylor Loft. Their clothes fit my nody and my budget"

Holy shit, that was wall-to-wall aces. So many jokes, so much goodness. Of all the jokes though, I laughed the most as Liz's realization that she could get a seat on the subway by playing up the crazy old lady thing. People really that desperate to get a seat on the train.

Paul's co-drag-skater being actually named "Daryl Weenus" cracked me up.  As did every other thing in the episode.

I agree, the pure randomness of it and how it was gone an instant later made me laugh. It was just so bizarre.

I really think this is my favourite episode of the season so far, crazy smelly old Liz was just too perfect. "Me gusta la musica Mariachi! Ahahahaha!!!"

Holy goddamn shit.

One of my folks is Jewish, but even I'd totally wreck the shit out of a Nazi-uniform-wearing Tina Fey.

Wow.

"Please get better sir. I've dug too many graves."

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand people who don't like Kenneth.

Mysterious dark past Kenneth > Hayseed Kenneth

Congratulations to 30 Rock for making the most insane Star Wars reference I've ever heard on a TV show. If you know who Figrin D'an is, what a kloo-horn is and what Clak'dor VII is, you're as big of a nerd as me and whoever at 30 Rock wrote that joke.

loved the Ewok in the case

Absolutely.  "Take off the bald cap . . . or put on the wig?"

Kind of a hit-or-miss episode for me, but kudos to them for going balls-out. And that shot of Leap Day William's monster transformation in the end was fucking great.

Impressed with Jim Carrey going along with such a pointed pisstake of the high concept, high paying crap he's specialized in of late.

I don't think even a multi-ethnic bartender with daddy issues could've enticed me away from pajama Liz, though.

Casting Andie McDowell as The Wife was a pitch-perfect detail, also.

Is it wrong this episode just made me REALLY want Liar Liar 2?

"Aw dammit... hot bitches!"

Steve Buscemi directed this episode.  That somehow feels... right.

Also, I didn't get who the Rebecca Birdstein joke was referring to. Little help?

That was probably my favourite part. Imagining that that guy was a big enough nerd to kidnap one of the original Ewok actors, put him in his suit and lock him in a case to be a talking point at parties was just hysterical.

I was impressed by that too. The guy has always had an excellent sense of humour about himself of course, but even still I think there are a lot of other comedians who might not have been willing to make fun of their own shitty work to such an extent.

Also, I'm so incredibly relieved that Leap Day isn't a real holiday after watching that episode. I would get so many pokes in the eye.

Damn, that was one of the best written eps of the show's entire run. Just incredible.

Loved Jim Carrey, especially at the end. Just a perfect episode all around.

It's a call back to an episode from a few seasons back where they reveal Kenneth has ALOT of birds that just run wild in his apartment. I forget the reasoning behind the names though.

That line absolutely slayed me. The line is great, but the delivery was just gold. So great.

He mentions early in the episode that he wants to baptize her before she dies.  The name implies the bird is Jewish.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm probably going to wear blue and yellow next Wednesday.

Kenneth falls in that category for me too. He's not always been the best written character, but he's usually gets a really strong line every couple episodes, and Jack McBrayer is still fully committing to everything he's doing.

With no Community, this is holding the night together for me now. I want some mean absurdism in my comedy, thank you.

You're damn right Arjen Rudd.

Damn right.

I giggled at that, but bust out laughing a minute later at Liz's incredulous "10 billion?  How much internet did he do???"

Not gonna lie, I'm going Hornberger with a yellow t-shirt under a blue dress shirt.

If I have any say over it* Leap Day will become a pseudo-actual holiday like Festivus.

*I do not have any say over it.

I have to say, I was both repelled and delighted by Liz's school bus granny panties.

What did just happen?

That was absolutely fucking incredible. I just want to hurl superlatives at this show like a drunk frat-boy throwing beads at the Girls Gone Wild Mardi Gras parade float.

I'd even go so far as to say that the episode was 30 Rock's "Last Exit to Springfield". It was that good.

One great little detail that I just noticed: in the opening scene, Thad's walking a cat.

I thought it was a great episode because it was so weird. The trapped Ewok bit has justified their existence.

I was thinking maybe it was a reference to someone famous? After instantly picking up on the Figrin D'an reference, I was feeling like a a bit of a philistine for not picking up on the perhaps famous feminist author of which "Rebecca Birdstein" was meant to be a pun.

Those panties were hilarious, how do they even exist? I assume they were meant for a morbidly obese little boy.

No ones mentioned the incredible Game of Thrones reference, which along with Figrin Dan made this the nerdiest episode of all time. But between those, the Carrey movie, the Christmas Carol bit ('Buy me the biggest rutabaga in the shop!' 'The one as big as me?'), Tracy meeting the real Leap Day William and not figuring it out, and Jenna's creepy manslaughter confession, I think it's also the best episode of what's so far been the best season since maybe two.

I may have missed it, but is there a connection with using Ikea blue and yellow as the Leap Day colors? I've seen the Ikea episode, so it has me wondering.

What I'm wearing today. Was really excited about it, then it hit me, that if nothing I do matters today, why not do something crazier. I don't know guys, I just get the blues this time of year. I miss how Leap Day was as child...all those tears...I'll never experience that again...

I am wearing a yellow dress shirt and blue/yellow bow tie. Long Live Leap Day William!

Whoa, it's actually leap day today.

"Synergy in action"

Nearly blacked out from all the awesome in this episode:

  • "But I've never 'crushed' anyone...except accused witches."
  • "I don't want to say 'told ya,' because it reminds me of my one-night stand with Nikki Finke."
  • "I get all my news from the radio in Grand Theft Auto."
  • Toofer and Lutz using the TV show to covertly "research-expense" Mass Effect 3.

Also, "Ten Poles Rammed In."

Once again, Jenna provides some of the show's best entertainment biz satire with her pilot for "Alexis Goodlooking, who is also good looking, and has the special power of being good at looking."

This should be a hit with the guys on the Chud show, who spent a big chunk of the last episode pissing on stuff like The Mentalist and every other show where the detective has the superpower of "thinking".

"We prefer 'Adultaphobe'."

also

"Kenneth-- a word, please?"

"Balloons!"

This last episode was fine. But I just watched Leap Day again, and it's near my favorite episode this show has ever done. Last time, my DVR cut off the ending and I didn't see the sea monster, which was tremendous.

Kenneth-centric story lines means I check out. But I gotta give it up for the Noid joke.

And yeah, Jenna is the unsung hero. Loved every second she was onscreen.

Jenna with bangs:

Utterly fucking terrifying.

"This is my angriest hug!"

More Jack vs. Kaylee, please.

Kenneth was awful quick to deny that there might be two of him.

And of course the top censor is named Gaylord Felcher.

My laughter actually turned into something of a squeal at that.

And seriously who would have thought that Chloe Moretz and Alec Baldwin would actually be a good comedy duo?
