30 Rock: Season 6 - Page 2

As a Kiss fan, I think Criss is spelling his name the right way.

Goddamn. Tina Fey needs to rock the slicked-back hair more often.

Also:

"It's a Jack-Off."

"Hello, Pizza."

That should have been totally groanworthy, but Baldwin sells it with his superhuman delivery.

Kenneth's line about there being no dog milk for the babies was the first time he's made me laugh in a long time.

Your charity does nothing to prevent an attack from Godzilla

If anything I made more accessible to an attack

I'd hate the people to realise that your charity is just a front that has done NOTHING to make this country safer from Godzilla attacks.

If anything I've INCREASED the likelihood!

I thought I didn't have that quote right. There was a Godzilla reference and I had to bring it up.

I completely agree. At this point he should be considered as more than human. Literally. Get an addendum to the UN declaration of human rights.

"PS: Alec Baldwin gets to do whatever he damn pleases."

The Jack-off was pretty F'n spectacular.

I find Kenneth so annoying yet every interview I read by Tina Fey, she absolutely gushes about the guy - mainly because he will do any bizarre request she asks him to do. I don't get it.

Have you always disliked Kenneth or was there initially a love for him that's faded from your heart? I'm only halfway through season 5 and I still find him one of the best characters on a show with zero dud characters.

He was amusing at first. But he's one note. It's literally the same joke over and over. I guess you could say that about pretty much every character on 30 Rock, but Jack and Liz are much more interesting people.

I think maybe the secret to this show's continued success is the supporting cast should all have gotten really annoying to me by now and they haven't. The Jack and Liz stuff has rightly been singled out for being 30 Rock's biggest asset, but that I still find characters as mean and unbelievable as Tracy and Jenna really funny most of the time. Kenneth falls in that category for me too. He's not always been the best written character, but he's usually gets a really strong line every couple episodes, and Jack McBrayer is still fully committing to everything he's doing.

With no Community, this is holding the night together for me now. I want some mean absurdism in my comedy, thank you.

"Being paid to turn a boy into a man is kind of my wheelhouse."

I heart Jenna.

Jack is totally going to nail his mother-in-law while his wife is an international hostage.  Can't say I blame him either, because, y'know, Steenburgen.

"vampire push"

Also, the whole "Aliens"-riff with Tracy's lizard -- from Kenneth and Schaal holding the motion-tracker device (straight out of the movie, only as a PC tablet-app, natch), to "Maybe you're not reading it right!" "It's reading fine, man, look!", to "That's inside the room!", to the final, simultaneous-horrified-upward-glance-at-the-ceiling-panels moment.

The best part was the sinister, lurking IKEA employee, feeding off of Liz's relationship woes. Actually, everything with IKEA was pretty inspired. Actually actually, I loved this entire episode.

"Now admit the UN is useless!"

"It is! Half the building is a laser tag arena."

Jack calling the Transylvanian ambassador "Chocula" did it for me.

That was his name. What else should he have called him? Penis?

Yup -- at one point, the camera panned down and caught the nameplate on his desk: "C. Cjzákulá," or something close to that.

Also, when Criss was trying to convince Liz to give Valentine's Day a chance, did she say, "OK, let's see what you got, Cross"?

Meaning Criss's full name is "Criss Cross"?

I enjoyed bits and pieces of this, but the hour-long episode format does not do the show any favors.

This seems to be shaping up into the season of Jenna.

"Oh. We'll take a pube count, but it doesn't seems worth it."

"Sorry to break up this sausage fest-"

"Unnecessary!"

I'm again in awe at the joke writing prowess of this show's team. It's madness.

How many virgins is Mary Steenburgen exsanguinating per week to keep looking like that? Damn, she fine.

Loved the soccer magazine Jack was reading:  "Kickenfun."

Also:  "potato-flavored potato chips."

This was the most fun I've had with the show in a long time. The jokes were coming fast and furious. And agreed, Jenna is the unsung hero. Every line was gold.

Holy shit, I hope that's true.

Funny thing:

Someone on another forum just pointed out that, a couple episodes back, we could see Criss's last name on the check that Jack attempts to bribe him with:

"Chros."

It's weird, she looks better now than she did thirty years ago. The black arts must be involved, or she has Benjamin Button disease.

I thought it was a weak episode. I kept seeing material I could tell was supposed to be funny, but I didn't laugh. Sue me. Tina Fey did look hot when she woke up.

Tina Fey always looks hot to me. The way she acted after she had her Lutz induced epiphany, I wanted to reach into the screen, grab her and take her to my house.

I clearly remember when I got a crush on Tina Fey. Its when she was doing Weekend Update on SNL. The joke was the health benefits sex. Its good for muscle tone and cardio, and then she says, with a twinkle in her eyes,  it makes boys like you.

Yeah, Fey is pretty much always hot. Loved that Liz woke up with a pringles can on her hand. And the Transylvanian ambassador was awesome, Jack spoiling Friends for him was hilarious.

Ohhh, what hath the Devil wrought on this earth to tempt men's souls.

Frank saying that guys like he and Lutz look like Far Side cartoons...wow.  So funny and so on the money.

Is it wrong that I lingered on the thought of Kristen Schaal's possibly hairless hoo-ha?

After that line, I don't know how you couldn't. They're practically insisting you do.

Yup, I thought about it and I'm a straight lady.

I'm really enjoying how her character is developing, it looks like she's getting in touch with her roots as Mel the creepy stalker in Flight of the Conchords. Either that or they are setting up a wicked All About Eve reference.

I've never liked Kristen Schaal.  Her persona has this thing going on where her weirdness seems very intentional, but there's this distance behind it where you can sort of see her observing the audience's reaction to her deliberate awkwardness.   It's not like 30 Rock requires naturalistic acting (I'd hesitate to even call anything Tracy's done in the last 5 years "acting"), but it gives me this strange feeling that I'm being somehow tested when I should probably just be laughing.  That probing quality worked pretty well on Conchords, where it was focused on Brett and Jermaine, since the character was constantly analyzing them and their reactions in order to improve her stalking game.  But here it's more off putting, and I'm mostly just impressed that she agreed to let them show the iguana mouth-raping her.

Well, that was pretty awesome.

"Perfectly executed Chewbacca sound!"

On fire tonight.  All the Liz-as-old-lady stuff was glorious, even the semi-dated Dark Knight references.

I don't care that TDK stuff was dated, because they built to it so slyly and JokerLiz was HILLARIFYING.

JokerLiz absolutely NEEDS to be a Halloween costume this year.

I want to go as a Steve Buscemi undercover high school student.

I feel like "Steve Buscemi _____"  should be the new go-to costume awesomifier for men.  The way "Slutty _____" is for 15-25 year old women, or 10 year olds can slap some zombie make-up on under their previous year's costume to instantly make it cooler.

Love Liz's pessimistic "it's Ghostbusters 2 all over again" being counterbalanced by Jack's optimistic "it's the original Ghostbusters all over again!"  Timely?  Again, watch me sitting here not passing out a single fuck.

And seriously, Fey seemed like she was having a frickin' BLAST being nuts in that get-up.  I don't know how anyone couldn't be infected by it.

Pete's skull-faced "SCATTERGORIES!" threat also killed me.  So much good stuff tonight.

That one cut where a bat-cape unfurls behind Jack. Epic.
