Honestly, apart from Elba and Dinklage's well-deserved wins I just find this list of winners incredibly dull. I don't know if they're all just predictable choices or I'm just finding it hard to find anything to invest in this year's crop of 'prestige' films, but it... I don't know. Doesn't move me.

The prestige movies this year are all obvious prestige contenders, yet at the same time none of them feel worthy of the top spots.  I can't picture flicks like War Horse or The Artist winning Oscars, but they will because hey, they need to pick at least one per year.  My personal list of contenders is stuff like 50/50, Warrior and Drive, movies that will never win let alone be nominated.

More than any other year, it definitely feels like all the awards committees of 2011-2012 are a bunch of grandmas. "Let's see, what will offend me the least?"
