Thread Starter

As prompted by Judas Booth here, we're going to attempt another watch-along!

The movie? The John Carpenter-Kurt Russell classic genre mashup BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA.

The date? Saturday, February 4th, 2012.

The time? 11 AM, Eastern (USA-time).

Who's in make the pillars of heaven shake?

Fuck. I'm shooting that day. Bullshit.

I'll do my best to dip in and be a total cunt to you all.

I was born ready.

RD, hope you can.

And the Flynn version of ROBIN HOOD would also be a great watch-along.

For what it's worth, I reckon Fantastic Mr Fox would be great fun.

I'm trying to work out if I'll try and stay up until 3 or try and crash for a few hours beforehand

Not that Commando, Big Trouble and Transformers (1986) aren't brilliant, classy, flawless films, but they're the kind of brilliant, classy, flawless films which lend themselves to copious amounts of piss being taken out of them. With Fantastic Mr Fox we have a widely beloved film but, fortunately or unfortunately depending upon your point of view, it's not one with a tone which lends itself to such an extraction.

As for the time diff there's no right or wrong answer for a 3am launch. I have 5am so my thing has been to get some shuteye beforehand so the old synapses and eyeballs are nice and rested beforehand, but if you're sure you can keep the old eyelids peeled then the delirium of sleep defered may well add even more flavour to the experience.

I think I may be in.

A barely coherent Rain Dog would be a pretty fun add-on for the watch-along, I'm thinking.

I hope I can make this one.

This is one of those films that I'm ashamed of myself for never having seen, I'm in.

But I'll be nude the entire time, I hope that's cool with everyone.

Ideally, you'd be seeing it with other people present, but this is close to that. BTILC, for me, isn't a film that's as fun to watch solo as with a crowd.

Re: your nudity: just be careful with that coffee, my friend.

Of course I'm joking! I'll be wearing a hat.

I'm still in! Will finally make one of these.

I'm most likely on-board as well.

I most definitely am on board.

I'm out. Gotta drive out of town to wish the father in law a happy fucking birthday and then drive back. If I'm not back by Sunday...call the President.

Have fun!

We doing this here or in chat?

The most recent watch-alongs have been done on the boards.  Keeps the hilarity for posterity and now there's rep!

Sorry to say, I won't be able to make this since I'm out of the country and don't have easy access to the movie.  Have fun everyone!  I'll be looking forward to reading through the thread afterwards!

I might watch on mute, and just blast the Coupe de Villes' album.

Which exists, contrary to what I've heard is popular belief.

Just to echo nooj, yup, we'll do it here on the boards. In this very thread, even!

Hope you can make it, Richard.

I should be here.  Planning to see Chronicle on Saturday, but not until the afternoon.

Stuck at work, but its relatively quiet, so my responses may be sporadic, but goddammit, I'll be here. I've got a very positive attitude about all this.
