Simple question about Justified

I only ever watched the first two episodes of season one. My question- is it really as good as The Shield or some of the best Sons of Anarchy episodes? Or is it more of a not quite that great, but still worth watching deal? Need to know before committing to it, thanks.

It's one of the best dramas on television, absolutely watch it.  I put in on par with Boardwalk Empire, which is to say a shade below Breaking Bad/Game of Thrones/Mad Men.  It's hard to compare Sons to anything because it is so ludicrously inconsistent, but I'd have to say Justified is better overall.  Its bench isn't as deep, but its core characters are fantastic and even in its most inconsequential one-offs it remains incredibly entertaining.

Almost (and well on it's way to becoming) required viewing. Far superior to Sons of Anarchy IMO. 

 

As good as The Shield? Not by a long shot. But not many shows are. Only time will tell if it catches up. I would say by the end of Season 1 it was a very long shot. But by the end of Season 2... it's looking mighty possible.

I've watched every episode of SOA and if I had to choose between the two...well, I'd miss SOA.  But not that much as I'd be too busy watching Justified.  Schwartz is right that they're very different beasts, but Justified is just better television in my opinion.  By a lot.

I've watched both series since each premiered.  Justified started a little slower, but I felt it was better than SOA (a show I still really enjoy) by the end of S1.  Justified S2 improved on S1.  It is probably my favorite show on television right now (without having seen any of Breaking Bad yet).

Easily one of the best shows on TV.

 

Far better than The Shield -at-the-same-stage- (2 seasons in).

I don't think I'd go that far, but we're splitting mighty fine hairs by that point.

 

Point in Justified's favor: currently best theme song on TV.

Season 2 of Justified to me surpassed The Shield. And as much as I love SOA, I don't want to be without Justified.

Justified is the dog's bollocks. The tits. The cat's pajamas.

 

It's well past the point of being required viewing. In a nightmare scenario of only being able to watch one show it's only GOT that manages to surpass it. Take into account that I'm a huge Western nut, though.
