Agreed with your spot-on assessment, Renn. While Hancock felt like half a movie, part of that half was certainly the end of the character arc. Of course, most superhero franchises have few places for their heroes to go after the first film's character development. The difference being that there is no pre-established Hancock mythology, only the nonsense about Hancock and, um, Lady Hancock being First Of Their Kind that was both fascinating and frustratingly undercooked. If there was more of that, congratulations, you'd have a story.

You'd also still have Will Smith and Akiva Goldsman.

I would have been happy if Hancock had just been the Bad Santa of superhero movies, as the trailer kind of suggested it would be. It didn't need a plot or a twist, and sure doesn't need a sequel. Berg should make Rundownandout or Very Badder Things instead.

This movie is the cinematic equivalent of being on the receiving end of great foreplay for the first half, but when the pants come off around the Charlize reveal, I'm looking at half an inch of cock.  Erect.

The only sequel Smith should even consider doing right now is Bad Boys 3.

You know, I wouldn't mind an Independence Day 2.  I wouldn't mind an Independence Day 2 starring Will Smith.  I just don't know if I'd want an Independence Day 2 directed by Roland Emmerich unless Dean Devlin is involved.  Not that they were the be-all-end-all when they were together, but Emmerich just seems to function better when Devlin has his back.  Anyway......

Bad Boys 3.  It's already in the works, so stop putting it off for shitty follow-ups that nobody wants (Hancock 2, the I Am Legend prequel, etc.).

What would be the purpose of ID42?  All they need to do is upload AIDS or whatever it was onto their mothership again and the movie's over.

Ground war?  I could have sworn that was what had been suggested years ago.

Of course, now it'd just be seen as a rip-off of Battle: Los Angeles.

I'd rather go full on space war. Have humanity reverse engineer the alien ships and go out into the galaxy hunting down any more of the aliens, and in a surprise moral twist become just as bad as the aliens they're hunting!

My wife would approve of ID4 2.  Bad Boys 3 gets my vote however.

Hancock was ok, although I suspect I enjoyed it more because I saw it on a plane on the way to my honeymoon in Antigua.

Sounds to me like someone saw Kick-Ass and Super, realized that deconstructed superheroes were cool with the kids these days and wants to jump on the trend they were too early/mediocre for the first time, and will undoubtedly be too late/mediocre for by the time this thing comes out (If it ever happens). Of course, the above films' popularity probably had something to do with the fact that they did the 'schlubby superhero' thing a lot better than Hancock did as well; I'd like to think that Berg wants to step up the quality to match those films, but I can't help but be skeptical.
