What's up in the Marvel U?

PLEASE bring back the Red Skull. And I would love Nick Fury & SHIELD vs SCORPIO......but I dream.

DamnDirtyApe, I agree with you.  Nick Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.  should get...FURYous against Scorpio...Stat!

I HATED the Howlin' Commandos in "Cap" because they gave them just the wrong amount of screentime - too much, in that it distracted from Steve's arc and the overall story, and too little, in that we barely got to know any of them. This needs to change, big-time.

And by a "Nick Fury" movie, I always assumed this would be"S.H.I.E.L.D." which would allow Marvel to use Fury, Black Widow and Hawkeye (and, I guess, Coulson) as leads for more ground-level adventures, with one or two smaller-time Avengers. Or, maybe, day-to-day workplace shenanigans. "Mission: Impossible" meets "The Office."

Also, Renn, I think Feige has talked about building to an Avengers 2, but that it wouldn't happen until 2017 or something.

I'd like to see what Tarantino would do with a PG-13 SHIELD flick with SLJ front and center.

Tell the story out of order, have some catchy music, and a lot of Scarlett's feet.  Roll credits.

I think Red Skull will be back in a Cap or Avengers sequel. He didn't die, and it looks like he got sucked into Asgard or another realm.

If they sucked him into the Cube at the end, then he's OBVIOUSLY not dead. Given that Weaving is signed for sequels, he HAS to resurface. It makes perfect sense if he did that in "The Avengers" though Feige claims he's not in it.

The extended Marvel-verse hinges on this Nine Realms thing. Which makes me happy that it looks like a possible coming "Dr. Strange" movie would not only fully utilize this as a story detail, but also set the stage for a bunch of other potential Marvel movies.

Feige has definitely referred to 2017 as the next "big" year for them, so Avengers 2 is a safe bet.  Doubly so considering Chris Evans signed on for 6 films, which he seems to think entails 3 Cap movies and 3 Avengers ones.

Weaving himself has also stated that he will not be appearing in The Avengers.  I'd say Cap 2 and/or a Masters of Evil-esque Avengers entry is a definite possibility though.  He's the best villain they have so far (with Loki a close second), so there's no way they won't honor Weaving's contract.

Here is what I expect to see after the credits for The Avengers.

This movie opens up the possibilities of the Nine Realms.

And there's only one person who can fully comprehend that sort of scope.

A man. A Doctor.

DR. WHO.

DR. STRANGE!
