Maybe it was a scene in a film, a line - hell maybe it was an entire filmic experience.

 

Special mention has to go to the Die Hard/Predator double I got to see in a gorgeous old repertory theatre here in Melbourne full of whooping and hollering Gen-Xers. That was a serious fucking geek treat.

 

But no, the big moment for me will probably be plenty of other peoples as well and may seem crushingly obvious, but effective is effective and the wonderful, arm-hair-raising, unspoiled surprise of...

....fucking thunderstruck me when I first saw it - and caused a theater to go deadly fucking silent as well.

 

Now that's effective storytelling.
